# 1 - The 5th column first lists Illinois and then that is crossed off and
Germany is written above it.
# 6-#7, #9 - The 5th column first lists Maryland and then that is crossed off
and Germany is written above it.
# 10-#12 - The 5th column first lists Illinois and then Germany is written
above it. The surname also has an umlaut over the "u" so it may be
spelled Mueller.
# 13 - The 5th column first lists Maryland and then that is crossed off and
Germany is written above it.
# 14 - The 5th column first lists something that looks like W???? and then that
is crossed off and Germany is written above it.
# 15-#18 - The 5th column first lists Maryland and then that is crossed off and
Germany is written above it.
# 34 - The entry is almost completely obliterated by damage to the original.
# 35 - Surname is the same as the entry above it, but the writer used ditto
marks, so it is impossible to transcribe a correct name.
# 68-#70 - Information obliterated by damaged original.
# 95 - Fourth letter of surname may be either "l" or "t" thus the name could be
either Wells or Welts.

#141-#145 - Surname listed in entry number 141 is obliterated by damage to the
original; thus, the entries for 142-145 cannot be determined because

Correspondence 03/17/2004 passengers #103-114 Schonhoff
My great, great,great-Grandparents Schonhoff (starting at entry 103) emigrated
from Gersten, in modern day Lower Saxony, to be with their daughter Maria Ana
(Schonhoff) Feld in Quincy, Illinois. She and my great, great-grandfather
Johan Clemens Feld arrived in New Orleans on the Bremen Schiff Sirius on
November 20, 1858 on their way to St. Louis. They settled in Quincy immediately
after the Civil War in 1865.
According to a Schonhoff fourth cousin now in Massachusetts, his family lore
included the story the arriving family told of witnessing the aftermath of
the Great Chicago Fire--the burnt and burning buildings, the handling of the
victims bodies, etc. as they made their way to Quincy.
One Schonhoff brother stayed in Germany according to marriage
records I have found from the 1870s. Steve Feld
