Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder. * The port of departure was not listed, but it is possible that it was Bremen, Germany. * There was nothing written in the "Children 1-4" column. Correspondence 4/5/01 passengers 3, 4, 6, 11, 14, 16 This ship's captain used an abbreviated format and misspelled some passenger and place names, but the info listed is sufficient to identify several who joined a pioneer German settlement in the Lake Creek area of Benton and Pettis Counties in Missouri, and adjoining Morgan County (see German Immigrants): #3 is the Cord Meyer family from Rhadereistedt, Hanover, who appear in the 1840 Benton County, Missouri census. Cord died at Lake Creek 1843, his wife Tibke Gerken in 1898. Their son Jost Meyer married Margaret Schnakenberg in Benton County 1845, and his brother Henry married Margaret Oelrichs 1851. Jost died there 1904, Henry 1896. #4 is John Ohlrogge from Ummel, a tiny spot between Kirchtimke and Hepstedt, Hanover. #6 is John's brother Henry Ohlrogge from nearby Rhade, Hanover. John and Henry are in the Pettis County, Missouri census 1840 and in Benton County 1850. John's daughter Gesche married Joseph Schwickrath in Benton County 1843. By 1860 John had moved back to Pettis County, and died there 1865, his wife Gesche in Benton County 1912. Henry's daughter Margaret married Cord Schroeder of Benton County 1853, and Henry & wife Anna Viets resided with them 1860. Henry died in Benton County 1866, Anna in 1887. #11 is Gesche Blohm from Altenbülstedt, Hanover who married Martin Kueck of Morgan County, Missouri ca 1840. Martin died 1844, and Gesche then married Frederick Wahlers of Morgan County in 1845. Gesche died there 1896. Gesche's sisters Tibke Holtzen and Becke Gehlken lived near her in Benton and Morgan Counties. #14 is the Lütje (Louis) Kahrs family from Altenbülstedt, Hanover who settled in the Lake Creek community of Pettis County, Missouri. (The list should read "and wife") Louis' wife Gesche died ca 1844, and he married Dorothy Kahrs 1845. (There were several marriages between apparently unrelated Kahrs families) Louis' daughter Adelheid married Andreas Holzbeierlein of Cole County in 1853. Louis died at Lake Creek 1881, Dorothy 1875. #16 is Mary Kahrs from Neuenbülstedt, who married Cord Kahrs from Altenbülstedt in St Louis 1840, and joined the other Kahrs families in Pettis County. (As stated above, the two Kahrs lines from neighboring villages have not been found to be related)
