Ship Humboldt
I, P. N. Paulsen, Master of the Hamb Ship Humboldt do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Ship at Hamburg from which port said ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant, and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. I have found my ancestors on the Ship list of the 'Humboldt' from
Hamburg, Germany to New York, 14, September 1857.
The following family is mine. Emilie Zipp was my great grandmother.

Correspondence 06/24/2003 passengers #367-370 Fursterman (correctly Furstenau)
Frederich Wilhelm and Wilhelmine (called Wilhelm and Johanna) moved to
Roselle, Illinois and in 1860 are on the Schamburg, Illinois Census
Record. The children, Paul age 2 and Emil, age 6 months, must have
died because they are no longer with the family. Only two young
daughters are listed with them at that time.
From Illinois, Wilhelm and Johanna moved to Watertown, Jefferson
County, Wisconsin, where Wilhelm taught music at the St. Johns
Evangelical Lutheran Church School. He later became principal of
the school before he retired. My grandfather was their son Paul
born in 1866 in Watertown.
The difficulty with finding information about Wilhelm and Johanna
is the spelling of the last name. It has been hard to discover
where they moved because of the many spellings used for their name.

I found my great great grandparents on your web site . Apparently their names
could not be read. If you look at lines 63 through 70. Their surnames are Klemp.
They sailed from Hamburg, Germany to New York in 1857 arriving 14 September 1857.
The name of the ship is Humboldt . They settled in Perry County, Missouri.
These grandparents are on my mothers maternal side. My grandmother's name was
Mary Katherine Klemp Douglas. Dorothy B. (McDaniel) McKee
