DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Wm. E. Putnam, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear, that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Golden West whereof I am Master, from Shanghai. *So help me God, to the 29th August 1857.

Columns represent: Names, Age, Sex, Occupation, The country to which they severally belong, The country in which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on the voyage.

Transcriber's Notes:

  The last couple of lines in the oath do not appear to be worded correctly, 
    but they were transcribed line by line, left to right.
  No deaths were noted on the manifest.

Passengers 2-5: there is a bracket to the right of these names with the
                comment: & servant (no name was listed with the comment)
