DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, S. Barends, Master of the German S.S. Gellert do solemnly, sincerely, and truly affirm that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board of the said Gellert at Hamburg and Havre from which Port said Gellert has now arrived; and that on the said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of the said Passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who have died. so this column was eliminated.

The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to the
quality of the original document.

the original recorder.

Passenger Notes:
  5  E??slie Sziyszika - The missing letters are small.
 43  Alfred Lenzberg - Occupation - first letter is tall, the others are small.
     Could end in sicia.
 47  Wilhelm Michallis - Occupation could be turner or traner.
 63  E???? Leitner - The first name is smudged, but seems to have small letters.
Note:  Passenger entries 72 to 87 are light and hard to read.
 72  Carl Schmidt - Occupation too light to read.
 73  Friedrich U?ter??h?? - Missing letters are all small.
 74  Thomas T?ch?? - All small letters.
 77  ????? ????? - Mostly unreadable. There could be an h in the surname.

     fourth letter above and below the line, fifth letter above the line.

 84  P??????? Achermann - All small letters except the last one could go below 
     the line.
 85  ????? Bahler - Badly smudged. Letters may all be small.
 86  Marie B????a?d - Fourth letter could be tall. The end could be and or aud.
 87  Adolph ????i? - Mostly unreadable. Surname could end in din.
Note:  Passenger entries 103 to 110 are light and hard to read.

108 and 109 J. D. St. A??? - The letters seem small. Occupation unreadable.
110  Johanna Scherr?? - The last two letters are small.
