Passenger Notes: #15 - Zero is blotchy, could be 18. #37 - Writer made capital K and R very similar; could be Rettig. #40 - Writer made captial K and R very similar; could be Ranssler. #57 - Faint letters, could be Brielha. #81 - Appears to be undotted 'j', but possibly could be 'f', for Sefournent. Correspondence 04/02/2004 passenger #2 Leppert I am reasonably sure that the second passenger on this list was Cresence Leppert, born 31 May 1837 in Baden. She would have been 24 when she left Germany. My Cresence Leppert left Baden to join her two brothers in Canada who had left 8 years earlier. Her father had died in 1861 so perhaps that was the reason she chose 1862 to leave Germany. Cresence is an uncommon name and the Cres'n of the log is a reasonable abbreviation. She had reason to come to America and she was unmarried. She did marry an Andrew Mattis (also seen as Mathis) and stayed in Kings Co., New York. Other family names include Zimmerman and Richter.
