Ship Emerald
I, Cork, Master of the Ship Emerald do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken aboard of the said Ship at Liverpool from which port said Ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. - So help me God - (signed) Wm Cork Sworn to this May 26, 1857 Before me (signature illegible)

Transcriber's Notes:
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the
quality of the original document.
On the original manifest there was a column for "the country in which they
intend to become inhabitants." Since it was marked "United States" for all
passengers, that column was deleted to save space.
The "part of the vessel occupied" column was deleted because in most cases it
was totally illegible.
The "Died on the voyage" column was deleted since all passengers survived the
voyage.
On the original document , the passengers were not numbered. They are numbered
here to make transcribers notes easier to follow.
The transcriber assumed because of the context that passengers 4 - 33 were
immigrating from Great Britain. There was only a check mark entered into
"the country to which each belongs" column and this was identical to all
passengers through #179 with the exception of those where "United States' was
entered.
Passenger Notes:
48-53 last name is spelled Farqhuar on the list., however it is likely the
last name is Farquhar.
18 - age was illegible.
21 - sex not given
59 - sex not given
161 - sex not given
181 - information was dittoed from the line above but is obviously incorrect.
187, 193, 210 and 220 - given name only - last name probably the same as the
passenger directly above, however, recorder neglected to use dittos.
197 - sex not given
