LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Belgic, sailing from Yokohama July 30th, 1895 arriving at Port of San Francisco, August 17, 1895.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single*, Occupation, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, Whether having a ticket to final destination, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

Transcriber's Notes:
There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.
In the Married or Single column "or Single" has been crossed out.
At the bottom of the page are two notes with a signature of G.T. Marsh:
 "9 Japanese held until Monday AM"
 "No 8 contract Labor sent for her."
The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were not 
included in the table:
 Able to Read & Write=yes
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco
 By whom was passage paid?=self (except 16)
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

Passenger Notes:
 3  Occupation is "wife of M Adler."
 5  surname is hyphenated: Shin-ichi.
 8  Despite the fact the the Under Contract to Labor column says no, apparently 
    this passenger is under contract to labor as noted at the bottom of the page
    (see Transcriber's Note above).  The note at the bottom of the page says her 
    but the list calls the passenger male.
16  Occupation is "join her husband."  She is going to join her husband, who 
    sent her money for passage.
17  has been to San Francisco 1895.
