SS Banan

I Thos. Hansen Master of the SS Banan do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Port of Boston, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Port Antonio Ja. from which port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, sex, calling, country of citizenship, native country, intended destination or location, number of pieces of baggage, location of compartment or space occupied, and date and cause of death of passengers, as required by the " Passenger Act of 1882 "; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country. So help me God.

With regard to your note about the names of passengers #1 and #5, your 
transcription is correct, they are both called Raby. (This is in fact 
quite common combination, try searching for Raby Williams in Ancestry.com!)

Passenger #3 should be Julia H Williams (H for Helen).

Please note I am not directly descended from this family, but Raby 
Robert Williams was the younger brother of my great-grandfather so I am 
quite familiar with the genealogy. (I have a maternal link to the 
Williams, hence surname). If it is of interest to you, they returned to 
Jamaica after a short while, certainly before 1898. I think Raby Robert 
Williams spent the rest of his life there, but Raby Wells Williams later 
emigrated to Canada (in 1908), settling in Red Deer, Alberta. Many of 
his descendants are still in Red Deer, and I am in email contact with 
them. Julia Williams later emigrated to the USA, in 1910, living first 
in New York, then Bloomfield NJ. The descendants of Allan Bruce Williams 
are in Eastern USA, I believe.
