LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Australia, sailing from Honolulu, Sept 15th, 1894 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Sept 22, 1894.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Able to Read & Write, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, By whom was passage paid?, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.
The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were
not included in the table:
Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco
Whether having a ticket to final destination=yes (except 3 & 6)
Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
Whether a Polygamist=no
Whether under contract to labor in the US=no (except 8)
Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
Whether having any deformities=no
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.
2 is going to join J Gomes.
3 has been to Marin Co. and Alameda. He has no ticket to final destination.
Money column says "no money 3 only a few dollars." He is going to join
"my wife in Oakland, Alameda Co."
4-6 Last Residence is Wailuku, Maui. Passenger 6 has no ticket to final
destination. The column is blank for the rest of the family. They are
going to join "Madeira."
7 Last Residence is Hana, Maui. He is going to join "Madeira."
8 Final Destination is San Mateo Co. Money Column says "$500 has I have
$500 in Cala" (Presumably this means California.) He is going to join
Brother Joao Silva San Mateo Co. The Under Contract to Labor column
says "Labor."
