Correspondence added 10/31/2005, passengers KOCH
I was very pleased to find two of my relatives on the passenger list for the
Bark Adonis. They are my great-great-great grandmother, Elise Koch #194 and
her younger brother Johann Koch #193. Anna Elisabeth Koch was born on
August 11, 1838 in Bromskirchen, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, the second of
twelve children of Johann Koch and Anna Elisabeth Hornig Koch. After coming
to America, she spent a couple of years in St. Louis, MO where met and married
Conrad Harth on June 16, 1859. They moved to Mayfield, Washington County,
WI by 1860. They had 11 children, 9 of whom survived. Conrad Harth served in
the Civil War. He was a shoemaker by trade. Elisabeth Koch Harth died on
April 8, 1927.
John (Johann) Koch was born on September 8, 1841 in Bromskirchen and after
emigrating to the US lived first in Niagara Falls, NY. He served in the Civil War,
and then settled in Mayfield, WI where he ran a hotel and was the postmaster for
a number of years. He married Catherine Becker and they had 6 children. He died
on September 14, 1902. Thank you very much for providing this service.
Clare Fisher from Oregon.
