Wilhelm Alfeld's father, Johann Friederich Alfeld (Jan. 26, 1801- Aug. 14, 1872) immigrated to America on the ship Hermann and arrived in New York on June 19, 1869 and was listed as Heinrich Ahlfeld, 69. He died in Edwards County, IL after 3 years, not being able to return to Germany. Wilhelm Alfeld's mother was Anna Dorothea Sopia Müller (born Feb. 3, 1800). Have copies of their Letzlingen Evangelical Parish records from Germany. #251 - Elisabeth Schach (Maria Dorothea Elisabeth Schackel), 35, born Feb. 6, 1819 (spinster sister of passenger #247). There are no records of her after arrival to America. Their parents were Johann Christian Friederich Schackel and Anna Dorothea Lüders who were married on Jan. 30, 1816 in Letzlingen. Stephen Ahlfeld Correspondence March 26, 2005 passengers #20-22 Nicolas Sophie Nicolas settled in St. Louis, Missouri with her daughters, Johanne and Friederike, and her son, Wilhelm. Johanne married Joseph Keppler (co-publisher of Puck Magazine). The Kepplers had three children (to the best of my research), Udo, Irma, and Olga. Ultimately, they ended up in New York City, New York and Johanne anglicized her name or Joseph Ferdinand Keppler married again to Pauline. I have a copy of a letter written from Johanne to Friederike signed Johanne Keppler addressing their brother's sordid marriage to the Keppler's maid (in German, translated to English). Friederike Karolinn Nicolas married Johann Georg Zeller in St. Louis, Missouri on 12 April 1855. Johann Georg Zeller (anglicized John George Zeller) was a graduate of St. Louis University with an MD. They settled in Spring Bay, Illinois (north of Peoria) on the Illinois River. They had five (5) children, Maria (died in infancy 1855), Charles Alexander Zeller, Dr. George Anthony Zeller, Josephine Mathilda Zeller, and Fredericka Caroline Zeller. Friederike had a crippling disease (rheumatism??), and died in May 1865, just after Lincoln's assassination in April of 1865. I have a letter from Dr. John Zeller's brother in Volkertshofen g Pfaffenhofen ad Roth, Bayern, Deutschland expressing his condolences on both. Friederike is buried in the Spring Bay Cemetery, Spring Bay, Illinois (tombstone in German), next to Dr. John George Zeller, and his 2nd wife, Miss Caroline Elizabeth Winkler Zeller. The Nicolases came on the Bark Adonis from Bremen, Germany to New Orleans, Louisiana on June 1, 1854. This was a return trip, as they had settled in the States when Friederike was only 9 as a result of the religious oppression in Nancy, Lorraine, France (Huguenauts). Steven N.
