Ship Adler
I, H. Schmidt, Master of the Ship Adler do solemnly swear that the following List or Manifest subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs, a list of all the passengers taken on board of the said ship Adler and that said ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belong, and also the country in which they intend to become inhabitants said list or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage,

Joe Brand(t) was passenger # 99 on the Adler, from Bremen to New York,
25 June, 1867. He was just 18 and was sort of a point man for the
rest of his family (John, Elizabeth and his sisters Caroline and Sophia)
who came over later. He went to Macomb Co., MI, where he bought
a farm on Lake St.Clair, living with his family there at the time of the
1870 census. He met Minnie Orns there, they married and settled
near Battle Creek, MI, across the state. Karl Frederick Brandt
