Transcriber's Notes:
The use of an * indicates an omission or error on the part or the original
transcriber and/or further information/explanations in Transcriber's Notes.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the
quality of the original document.
Column 16: In most cases the amount of money in possession of the passenger has
been overwritten by another number. It is unclear to this transcriber
whether this second number constitutes a change in the original amount
or has some other purpose/meaning. In no instance is the second figure
accompanied by a dollar sign.
Passengers 1061, 1065, & 1074:
Explanation of numbers recorded above columns 6-10:
These numbers and dates indicate "verification for naturalization
purposes...First number is naturalization district number, second is either
application number or the Certificate of Arrival number. 505=Verification
form used to transmit manifest information to requesting INS office, thus
indicating a verification/record check."

Some of the cities/towns listed here could not be verified on any of the maps/lists
available to this transcriber. This may be partly due to the many changes in
borders and place names in these parts of Europe over the last 91 years.
Although the recorder of this manifest abbreviates "-in-law" with a "superscript i,
forward slash, law"--i.e. "^i/law", the words have been written in full by this
transcriber.
There are multiple large check-like marks and long horizontal dashes on this
manifest which, in many instances, obscure or confuse the data.
The number 30A is written in large numerals at bottom of the page under column 8.
Significance uncertain. Possibly refers to number of passengers on this page of
the manifest.
There is a handwritten number 39 and a large initial B at left top of page.
Significance uncertain. Possibly the captain hand-numbered and initialed each page
of the manifest or the notation may have been made at some later date.
Manifest signed at bottom under column 11 by N. G. Schlamm, Inspector.
Every effort has been made to produce an accurate transcription of this manifest.
However mistakes in interpretation are possible due the the quality of the copy and
the variations in individual handwriting, together with unfamiliar names and places.
If you are researching this page and believe a mistake has been made or that you
have, or may have, found a relative, please contact the transcriber.
