ALL ALIENS arriving at a port of continental United States from a foreign port or a port of the insular possessions of the United States, and all aliens arriving at a port of said insular possessions from a foreign port, a port of continental United States, or a port of another insular possession, in whatsoever class they travel, Must be fully listed and and master or commanding officer of each vessel carrying such passengers must upon arrival deliver lists thereof to the immigration officer.

Transcriber notes:
* There is no sworn statement.
* There is no Captain's name.
* The "footnote" referred to in column #24, is unreadable due to the quality of 
  the copy so it cannot be transcribed
* Total number of passengers was 28, with 26 being aliens and 2 being US citizen.
* The transcribers notes for each passenger was added at the end of each paragaph
* Column 2 was not included in passengers information as not all passengers had 
  information.
* Answers to questions 21 - 26 were eliminated from the passengers information as 
  all passengers answers were NO.

Passenger 23 Sarah Ann Morgan is the transcriber's grandmother. A lady ahead of her time. The only one of her family to leave Great Britain and come to the United States. She left England at age 35 after 3 requests from her fiance to come to America. His name was George Budge Knight, from Scotland, who had already come to America. After arriving in New York, she travelled by train to Sacramento California. She married George on October 27, 1919, (the day she arrived in California). She had one daughter and six grandchildren. Her father was a "sea captain" but I am not sure where he sailed. During the 1950's made 2 trips to England to visit her family. Her last trip was in 1955. I am still searching to find her family in England and my grandfathers family in Scotland.

She told many stories about her voyages: from how pleasant and interesting the other passengers were, to the high waves and storms at sea. She always said she was terrible at directions so I guess she was just very determined to go to California, since she managed to make it!! A Picture of Sarah Ann

*A photo of the SS Celtic can be found by going to the COMPASS and clicking on ships images. This ship had been used during the war in 1917 and later became a passenger ship.
