Transcriber's Notes:
- This was a totally typed manifest.
- The copy of this manifest [that I received to transcribe] is most
probably a manifest booklet or pamphlet; thus, the amount of
  information it contains.
- It is typed in whole as it came from the list I received.
- There were no deaths on the passage.
- There were no ages or occupations listed.
- The passenger's list was not numbered originally, and was already
  typed in alphabetical order.
- I did not abbreviate passenger names; all names were typed exactly as they
  appear in the passenger's list.

In the passenger list itself:
- The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original
  recorder.
- The use of a ? indicates words or letters that could not be read, due
  to quality of original document.

203 The ? indicates that the letter is probably a j but could be an i.
208 The ? indicates that the letter is probably an E but could be an F.
218 A comma is used after Mr instead of a period; no periods after initials.
291 The ? indicates that the letter is probably an e, but could be a c.

For the section titled INSIDE FRONT COVER:
- The ".." must mean no schedule time, and probably does not mean
ditto, especially since the first entry is "..".
- The verbage is typed exactly as it appears on the inside cover, line by line.
- The use of an * indicates that I inserted L1 where the European currency
  indicator was used.

For the section titled BACK COVER:
- The copy quality is very poor, though typed.

For the section titled INSIDE BACK:
- The word jewellry is spelled here as it appears in the manifest.

Pat Galovich was pleased to find her ancestors on this ship.
They were the Bell family, passengers 37-39.

Violet BELL (nee STEVEN), born 1886 at Arbroath, Scotland was my maternal
grandmother. She lived with her husband and 2 daughters (Violet Mona and
Lillian STEVEN) in Douglas, Isle of Man before sailing to Canada on
June 4, 1910 aboard the S.S. Canada, arriving in Montreal and then
travelling to Vancouver, B.C. to take up residence. Violet's husband,
Henry Wesley BELL born 1885 in Douglas, Isle of man had previously
immigrated to Canada circ. 1909, arriving from South Africa where he
had been employed with the DeBeers Consolidated Mining Co. at Kimberley.
Upon his arrival in Vancouver, he worked briefly for the "Art Emporium"
as a picture framer/photographer before opening up his own shop called
"BELL's Art Store" on Georgia Street. Henry trained as an artist on the
Isle of Man before leaving for South Africa and the family has several
of his sketches.
Violet and Henry's daughter Lillian Steven BELL was my mother, born in
1908 at Douglas, IOM, married Thomas Watt WALLACE (from Scotland) in 1927
at Vancouver and died in 1991 at the age of 83 years. Her sister Mona born
1906 also at Douglas, IOM married and eventually died in 1983 in the
Vancouver area."
