I, Alex M. Ritchie, Master of the Steam-Ship Utopia, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said S.S. Utopia at London from which port said Utopia has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. There is a line drawn through the name and age of passenger 448.
I'm assuming she was not on board as the total passenger count
adds up correctly.
There were no deaths on the voyage and I've eliminated the
Death column.
United States of America I've shortened to USA in order
to save space.
At the top of each page of the passenger list for Steerage
passengers, the word Labor or Labr is written once as the
occupation and ditto marks are used for the remainder of
passengers on the page, regardless of sex or age.
