RMS Teutonic
I, Peter John Irving, Master of the R.M.S. "Teutonic" do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Liverpool and Queenstown, from which port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the last residence and country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates and causes of death, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country. So help me God.
Sworn to this 27 May 1891, before me John (surname cannot be read)
List or Manifest Of all the Passengers taken on board the R.M.S. "Teutonic" whereof P. J. Irving is Master, from Liverpool and Queenstown burthen 4244 tons.

Transcriber's notes:
* The use of an * indicates an error on the part of the original
recorder, not the transcriber, or is used to call attention to
additional information in the Transcriber's notes below.
? The ? marks indicate letters or words that cannot be read due
to the quality of the original document.
* Abbreviations used in the original document included a colon,
not a period, after some abbreviated first names (e.g. Chas:,
Thos:, etc). In other cases, a few letters of the name or
occupation were left out and the final letter raised with a
period under it. These I have transcribed with an apostrophe
for the missing letters and a period after the last letter
(e.g. Mich'l. for Michael, W'm. for William, Lab'r. for
laborer, For'd. Stge. for Forward Steerage.)
552 The surname is almost completely covered by an
inkblot. The last two letters may be ly
553 This surname is completely covered by an inkblot.
554 An inkblot covers most of the surname. The last
three letters could be gan or gun
573 The destination could be Ballynahonna or
Ballynahouna
580 This could be Tou, Ton, Fou or Fon. The crossbar
on the initial is very faint and could be just a
smudge on the paper. The last letter is either
u or n
581 The top of her middle initial is faded, but it
may be J. However, there is a very faint
suggestion of a half circle at the top. It could
be a P. The missing letters in the nationality
and in the destination are covered in ink. None
go below the line. The nationality is probably
Welsh and the destination most likely Columbus,
Ohio
582 His nationality is probably Welsh
584 No luggage is indicated, but the line is quite
faded and there might have been a number there.
590 This could be a misspelling of Rathmagurry in
Sligo
602 The name was originally written Maginnis but a small
c was written above and partially on the a. The
lower case g which follows was not capitalized as
was usual with names starting in Mc
603 - 607 Ink covers the first two letters of Anne's surname,
but part of a small, raised c can be seen which is
followed by the capital G. The name is probably
McGowan. The children's names are indicated by
ditto marks, or are covered in ink, but this
appears to be one family. The last child, #607,
is probably Anne or Anna Jane
609 - 610 The writing has faded on the questioned letters,
but none are tall letters or descend below the
line. The last residence may be a misspelling of
Kircubbin in County Down
632 - 635 This surname may be Brown. The last stroke of the
fourth letter is covered by ink as is the rest of
this name. However, the letter could be w or u
645 The last residence could refer to Castleblaney in
County Monaghan
646 The surname could be Flint, but the first letter
is very faint and no crossbar for an F can be seen.
It looks like a T, but Tlint is very unlikely.
649 The destination is either misspelled here or the
final letter has faded. It should be Wilkes-Barre
652 - 653 The last residence could be a misspelling of the
town of Aclare in Sligo
655 The missing letters are covered in ink
656 - 657 Except for the first two letters, the surname of
this couple is covered in ink, as is the
nationality of the wife
658 - 659 The surname of this couple is covered in ink, as
is their nationality
664 The missing letters in the last residence could
be iny
666 The final letters of the surname are unclear. The
name could be Biggar, Biggan, Biggur or Biggin
667 The abbreviation Sset. might be Somerset
670 The last letters of the last residence may be jan
673 Surname could be Conroy. The third letter has
faded completely; the fourth looks like the right
half of an r
683 This is spelled Drimlush here, but there are
several places called Drumlish in Ireland
684 A hole in the page removes the latter part of the
surname. The age could be 19 or 17, but it is torn
through so this is not definite
694 Surname could be Whealen or Wheaten. The t is not
crossed, but is very thin and has no loop as would
an l
697 The age is unclear. A 7 was written over a 9, or
vice versa. It's either 27 or 29
704 The given name is an abbreviation and could be
Ans. or Aus. To further complicate matters, the
sex is indicated by an F written over an M, and
the calling by Serv't. written over Lab'r. It's
not clear which were written last
707 Surname may be O'Shaunessy. A couple of letters
are unreadable due to a tear in the page and the
next three are very faint. However, they do not
descend below the line and are not tall letters.
708 The torn page eliminated the surname except for
the O' at the beginning and the or at theend.
There were probably 3 or 4 letters in between
709 No surname can be seen due to a torn page.
Inkblot obscures part of the last residence
710 Same as 709, but even the given name is torn off
711 The entire name has been ripped off the page.
The last residence may be a misspelling of
Anascaul in Kerry
712 The given name has been ripped off the page.
The last residence may be an alternate spelling
of Scullaboge in Wexford
713 The last residence may be an alternate spelling
of Scullaboge in Wexford
722 Shea could be the surname, but it could be a
longer name as all that appears is Sh followed
by what could be e. The rest of the name has
faded completely
724 - 726 The last residence is indicated by two words,
both quite faded. None of the letters descend
below the line. My best guess is Ruthillan or
Puthilan for the first. The second may be Carlow
727 The middle letters of last residence are faded;
none go below the line
731 Surname may be Hennigan, but only the top part
of the first letter is visible. There is a
place call Tulsk in Roscommon, but I didn't see
Manor as part of it
732 Surname is probably Healy, but second letter is
faded. The last residence may be Inniscarna
733 - 734 Last residence may be Inniscarna
735 The surname is quite faded, and partly covered
by an inkblot. It may possibly be Jordan.
736 The surname might be Quinn. But an inkblot
covers the last part of the name and the age.
The part that shows is quite faded.
737 Given name is probably Roseanne or Roseanna,
but the first and last letters are too faded
to read. The last residence may be Minard,
County Longford, but the last two letters of
the former are unclear
742 The questioned letters of the surname are too
indistinct to guess at. None go below the
line. The letter before the final "on" is a
tall letter. Last residence is too faded to
read, but none of the letters go below the line
or are tall letters
743 - 747 The last residence could be Ballymalis in Cork,
but the last letter is indistinct
748 Last residence, Macroon, may be a misspelling
of Macroom in Cork
749 Surname may be Kelliner, or Kellinar. Only the
lower half of the first letter is clear, and the
next to last letter is completely faded. The
last residence may be Ballyheige in Kerry.
However, the top half of the h is completely
faded here and it looks like an n. In addition
there is definitely another n before the final e
750 Last residence could be Candikee or Candihee
751 - 753 I couldn't find a Ballyneene in Kerry, just a
Ballyouneen
754 The given name could be Hannah. The first letter
is very faint, as are the letters after
n. Surname looks more like Stuck, but may be
Stack. Destination probably New York
755 - 758 There is a Ballyhooly, with no e, in Cork. The
surname of #758 was torn off the page except for
the faded initial which may be M, after which
about three letters are torn off, followed by a
final faded letter
759 The torn page eliminated several letters of the
surname
760 The torn page eliminated the surname. The last
residence is very faded, could be Stranarit,
followed by a three-letter (probable) abbreviation.
Destination perhaps Meriden, followed by a
completely faded word, followed by Ia. There is a
Meriden in Iowa.
761 - 763 The torn page eliminated all the names. Last
residences and destinations very faded.
764 Given name is torn off. Last residence is very
faded, but may be Galway
765 Initial of given name, partially torn off, is
probably J
767 The surname may be Heffernan. The final letters
are too faint to read
768 The surname, very faint, may be Muney or Maney.
Second letter is a or u, followed by n, followed
by a letter too faint to read, then what may be
a y. The destination Westpoint is written as one
word, unlike West Point in N.Y.
769 The surname may be Moore or Mahre, but the
missing letters are too faded to be sure
770 The surname could be Caulfield. The questioned
letters are too faint to read
771 Surname may be Devin, Devine or Devlin. The
questioned letters too faint to read, although
a dot is clear, indicating an i. Last letter
may be n, but is very faded, and might have
been followed by a completely faded letter.
The destination may have been Great Barrington,
Mass.
772 The last residence may be Carscastle, but only
the first four letters are clear. Letters at
the end could be tte or tle. Pittsburg is
probably a misspelling of Pittsburgh, Pa.
773 Pittsburg could be a misspelling of Pittsburgh,
Pa., but there are towns spelled Pittsburg in
Kansas, Texas and California
777 The destination is probably meant to be Glens
Falls, N.Y.
782 Aft. Steerage was reserved for females. This
was probably an error by the person doing
the listing
784 The age might be an error, as all other 10-year
olds were listed as Child, not Serv't.
786 - 787 The last residence may be Ballyphilip, the name
of several townlands. The third letter is
faded, and the last letter completely missing
788 An inkblot has covered the surname and part of
the age. Similarly, the location is covered,
but is probably Aft. Steerage where all females
not in family groups were located
789 A large part of the page was torn off. The
location aboard ship, the amount of baggage and
permanent vs. transient status is not available.
However, unless traveling as husband and wife
and/or family party, women were in Aft. Steerage
and men in For'd. Steerage. Almost all steerage
passengers with a U.S. destination were listed
as permanent. The initial letter of last
residence is missing but is probably B
790 Same as 789 except for last sentence. Also,
Queenstown is now called Cobh, in County Cork
791 Same as first four sentences of 789
792 Same as first four sentences of 789. Also,
the second digit of the age is unclear. The
destination might be West Superior where
several other pasengers were going, but the
letters after p are missing here
793 - 795 Same as first four sentences of 789. Also,
the questioned letters in the last residence
are too faint to read
796 Same as first four sentences of 789.
Destination probably Montana. The last letter
has been torn off
797 Same as first four sentences of 789
800 There is a Drumnavrahan in Fermanagh, but I
couldn't find a Navrahan
810 The surname is partly torn and the rest is
very faint. The first letter may be M, then 2
unreadable letters, ending in ich or ile. But
these are just guesses.
811 The first part of the surname has been torn off
the page. Cincinnati is misspelled
812 - 816 The questioned letters and ages were torn off
the page. Also, the last residence of #816
could be Goresbridge, but the questioned
letters are too faint to be sure of this
820 M'l. may be an abbreviation for Michael. I
couldn't find Fanmore, but Fahamore and Fanore
More are both in Clare
822 The given name is very faint, but possibly it
is Sissy
823 Given name is very faint but possibly is Patrick
824 The faded first letter of the surname is
possibly D for Dunlaney.
