Columns 1-7 represent: "NAME." "AGE." "SEX." "Native Country." "The Country of which they are Citizens." "Occupation." "Intended Destination or Location."
Columns 8/9 were omitted due to space considerations and repetition.
Column #8: "Whether Visitors only; or, intending to be permanent Settlers." Passengers #9 Lobkowitz and and #10 Moran were noted as Visitor, all others as "Settler."
Column #9: On pages 31-55 is titled "Remarks."
There were only 3 remarks written:
Transfer of passenger 44 Mathilda Bender and infant to Cabin on page 32
death of passenger 209 Rudolf? Gross on pg. 38
birth/death: baby of passenger 82 Anna Baur on page 33.
On Cabin passengers' page, Column 9: "Remarks" had been blackened out, with "Number Baggage" hand-printed. This information is included in the transcriber's notes.
While this list appears to be roughly alphabetical by the first letter of the surname, it is not. A surname may be found anywhere: an H and K are found in with the A surnames, and more B-Z surnames follow the first set of Z's. Like surnames are also not all found on the same page.

Correspondence 10/16/01 passenger #95 BETLEJEWSKI
Andres BETLEJEWSKI, my Grandfather, was born 25 July 1859, in Zginoblot,
Poland. On 15 February 1891, he married my Grandmother, Julia OBREMSKI in
Brodnicy, Poland. It was said that she was from Strasburg, Germany but we
don't have direct proof of that yet. Andres was on his way to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, where his brother Frank was living, to settle down and make a
home for his new family. Andres had several skills that kept him employed.
He made harnesses, bridles and halters for horses and oxen. He worked in a
factory manufacturing stoves. He would go for days into the woods west of
Milwaukee and return with pillow cases filled with mushrooms. After the
advent of the automobile be began working as a stone and brick mason. His
most renowned and lasting endeavor was working with Father Wilhelm Grutza,
the Polish blacksmith Priest, organizer and builder, to construct St.
Josaphat's Basilica in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On 17 June 1925, he legally
changed his name to Andrew Betler in Milwaukee County, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He included his children Charles, Mary, Clara, Helen, Adolph, Alma and
Corinne in his petition. His son Bernard had just recently died after being
struck by an airplane motor that fell on him at his place of employment.
Andrew died in 1932 and was buried in St. Adalberts Cemetery in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin beside my Grandmother who died 10 April 1929.

This picture of the Betlejewski family taken in 1901. L to R: Mary, wife
Julia, Clara, Andres, Charles and Bernard. St. Josaphat's was dedicated
on July 21, 1901. The picture quite possibly was taken after a baptismal
or communion in the new church.

My grandparents' last name was "Hanauer" not "Hamauer" as shown on this ship.
(Note: the names have been corrected on this manifest.)
My grandfather, Michael, was born in 1865 in the city of Ragensburg Bavaria,
later his family moved to Nabburg, Bavaria in the State of Franconia.
My grandmother, Margaretha Donner, was born in Schwartzenfeld, Bavaria
about 7 Kilometers from Nabburg. They had one child in Germany who died
in infancy. They met Michael's cousin, Joseph Hanauer, in Philidelphia,
and removed from this city to Salamanca, NY where they eventually split up
Joseph going to Providence, RI and Michael and his wife going to New York City.
Joseph went to work as a mechanic for the Boston and Maine RR, and rose through
its ranks to become the Railroad's prtesident.
Michael and his wife after spanding 18 months in NYC where my Aunt Louise was
born on the south-east corner of 30th Street and 3rd Ave. They moved to
Providence, RI just long enough for the birth of my Uncle Henry. From
there they moved to South Hadley, MA where my Aunt Mary was born. While
in South Hadley another child Anne was born who died in infancy. They
moved to West Granville, MA as farm managers where my mother' Frances,
was born. They then moved to West Hartland (Riverton), CT where my
Uncle Frank was born. He was the Last of their Children. By this time
my Michael made use of one of the three trades he had learned in Germany
which were MAster Builder, Blacksmith, and Brewer. He established a
blacksmith shop on Eagle Pond's dam in Riverton. Later he moved to
Winchester Center, CT and established a blacksmith shop across the road
from the church. He sold this and moved to Winsted, CT where he had two
more smithies. He also worked as a builder in the building season.
He was one of the few who knew how castles were built since in his early
days the Hanauer family was heavily interested in the building of
New Schwanstein Castle for Ludwig II of Bavaria. This is the castle that
was in the movie "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang."
When he retired he bought a farm in Colebrook River, CT where he died in 1934.
My grandmother survived him until May of 1940. Today their decendents are
scattered all over the face of the world.
