Ship R. Robinson
I, U.S. Long, Master of the Ship R. Robinson, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Port and District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said ship at Liverpool from which port said Ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. ? indicates letters or words that cannot be read due to the quality
of the original document.
The column labeled The Country to Which They Intend to Become Inhabitants
has been omitted. For passenger #1, on list #1, in this column is U States.
Beginning with Passenger #168 on page 5, different column headings were used.
The columns at that point become Name of Passenger, Age, Country of Birth, Last
Legal Residence, Country Claiming Allegiance, Occupation and Remarks, Baggage.
The Country Claiming Allegiance column is blank throughout list #2. The
transcriber is under the impression that all passengers were intending to become
residents of the United States.
Following the numbered list of passengers is a list of 26 passengers who
had previously been in America. Most include the name of the ship on which they
traveled and the month and/or year of arrival. Although this is valuable information,
it presents somewhat of a mystery, for, in several cases as indicated, the names do
not correspond to any of the passengers listed on the ship. Were passenger names
left off the passenger list? Spelling errors can account for two or three, but not
for all of those not found.
Evory Cerzen - No passenger name comes even close to this. Is it a
passenger name left out?
William Blaney - could be passenger #22, Wm B?asny.
Henry Snape - passenger #170.
William Ferguson - passenger #223.
Mich Gibney - passenger #307 - There was a Ship Ashland in service at that time.
Anne Barrett - passenger #198.
Sarah Ferguson - passenger #224.
Mary Walsh - There were two passengers with this name: #289 and #324.
There was a Ship Edgar in service at that time.
Anne Walsh - No corresponding passenger.
Thomas Ryan - passenger #312.
Mary Ryan - passenger #313.
Lucy A Murphy - passenger #311.
Anne Boyd - passenger #196.
Levi Hoskinson - probably the same as passenger #131, Levi Hoskiso.

The first names spelled Patt are all clearly written with two t's.
#171 Abitn? - the ? looks like a 'z', Abitnz. No part of the letter is below the
line. The recorder made a 'z' like a very small capital E or a backwards

#174 Porle?chley - Porleuchley, Porlevchley, Porlenchley.
#180 Wm ? Mitchell - The initial could be an 'I' or a 'J'.
#194 Robert ? Campbell - The initial could be an 'I' or a 'J'.
#216 Mary Me??an - Either Mechan or Muhan.
#236 & #237 Patt Maher and Margt Magher - These two passengers are most
likely married, with one name misspelled. For the 6 children following
Margt, the writer used a ditto for the last names.
#255 Sarah Fe??y - Either Fehy or Felzy.
#260 George Brie?? - Looks like Briend, Brient, or Brierd.
#264 Patrick Fr???? - Looks like Freind or Freusch but could be Friend.
#282 Caxen?y - The ? could be a 'c' or an 'e', Caxency, Caxeney.
#299 Joan La??hopper - After the 'La' is a line which extends up a little taller
than the 'a' or the next letter. Could be Laenhopper, Lalnhopper, Lamhopper,
or even Lanhopper.
