Correspondence 07/23/2004 passenger #239 Firmenich
Listed on this passenger manifest as passenger no. 239, is a PETER
FIRMENICH, age 28, farmer, from Prussia. (If he was 28 then, his year
of birth probably was 1821)
This gentleman may have been a great great uncle. My father, who
also shipped out of the port of Antwerp 63 years later aboard the
Kroonland, named CHRISTIAN JOSEPH FIRMENICH, b. 1 Jul 1881, Niederzier,
N Rhine (then Prussia) was the eldest of five kids, but the only
PETER (Joseph) FIRMENICH, the third child, wasn't born until 1885,
so this immigrant couldn't have been my uncle; but great uncle,
possibly. My grandfather was named PETER JOSEPH FIRMENICH, and
was born in 1827, making him age 22 at the time of the sailing of
the Peter Hattrick in 1849. But, to my knowledge, grandfather did
not ship over to America.
But my great grandfather, ANDREAS FIRMENICH, birth date unknown,
married my great grandmother, MARIA CATHARINA VOGEL, in Jan 1845,
in Niederzier. I have no record of the brothers or sisters of my
great grandfather. It is likely that there were some, and perhaps
not unlikely that there would be one named PETER.
And considering the year of their marriage - 1845 - it is entirely
possible that great grandfather ANDREAS had a brother who very well
may have been named PETER, since PETER seemed to be a popular name
for a male child in that part of Prussia and in that particular family.
Thus, it seems to me that it is possible that farmer PETER FIRMENICH
might have been my great great uncle. Comments are solicited.

Correspondence Feb. 27, 2008 passenger #239 DALHEIMER
My ancestor is:
228 Henry Dalheimer 21 m Laybourer Darmstadt 1 chest clothes
His last name should be spelled “Dahlheimer”.
Henry Dahlheimer immigrated from Bobstadt (near Darmstadt), Hessen, Germany,
To America in 1849. He departed from Antwerp, Belgium on the Ship Peter Hattrick
and arrived in New York on 3 Jul 1849. Henry was 21 at the time and he had one
chest of clothes in his possession. There were 255 passengers aboard his ship.
He joined his brother Valentine Dahlheimer in Ohio. Valentine had immigrated in 1847.
In 1852, three years after Henry, their father, Casper Dahlheimer, his wife, and their
children, immigrated via Liverpool to America. The Dahlheimer family first settled in
Ohio, then in Minnesota. Most, if not all, Dahlheimers in Minnesota descend from this family.
Their family history may be found at http://www.dahlheimer-bebeau.com/Dahlheimer/
Thank you.
