Correspondence 1/5/02 passengers #449-452 Lord
I have found Great Grandmother Annie Lord, Grandmother Charlotte Lord Pope,
Great Aunt Edith and Great Uncle Fred listed on the SS City of New York
arriving July 10,1890. There is one error on the manifest. My Grandmother
was the second child, born April 9, 1885 so she was the six year old and
Great Aunt Edith was the 9 year old. My Grandfather, Jacob Lord, is not
listed as being on the ship. I assume that he came earlier.
The family came to Brooklyn where my Great Grandfather worked for the
railroad in New York City. They lived on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.
Both Great Grandparents are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
Great Grandfather worked for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in
Kearsley, England. His father was the Stationmaster. Annie's father
worked for the railway as well and they met while Annie's father worked
for my Great Great Grandfather Lord. I believe that Annie's father
was the last President of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
