Transcriber's Notes:
The handwritten entries in the captain's statement are underlined here.
There is no entry where the signature of the Deputy Collector should be, here
indicated by "*."
The columns Location of Compartment and Died on Voyage are not filled out as
labeled. Instead, "Read & Write" is written across the two columns as an entry
in the line corresponding to the first passenger on each page. The entries in
these two columns for passengers below are ditto marks, dashes, some dollar
amounts, and some lines with no entry. The ditto marks and dashes probably refer
to the "Read and Write" in the top passenger's line. The ditto marks are
transcribed as "yes" and the dashes as "no". The dollar amounts probably refer
to the amount of money the passenger is carrying. On some lines the dollar amount
is written over where the ditto marks would be. In these columns a blank is
transcribed for Read & Write. On other manifests, Able to Read and Write and
Amount of Money appear as formal columns.
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced with ?.
33 Walsh is written, crossed out and replaced as surname with Mullins.
35 There is an illegible entry in the final column that could say Transient.
36 surname is Newah or Newak.
38 This seems to be a male passenger with an error in the occupation.
56 surname is Malen, Malin, or Malur.
59 surname could be Ciro.
63 Only one name is written. It is transcribed as a surname.
66 surname is Olsler, Olslu, Olster, or Olstu.
69 surname is Queenan or Gueenan.
89 This name could be Bowes or Bu???, possibly Buner or Bauer.
102 First name could be ?lim.
