Ship Helene

Bremen, Germany to New York
3 July 1849

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
The voyage of the ship Helene is described in the biography of Dr. Hermann M. Shaefer in "The History of Edwards, Lawrence, and Wabash Counties", published 1883 by Unigraphic. However, Dr. Shaefer's name does not appear on the list of passengers. All the passengers on the Helene were from Germany, and many of them went directly to Edwards County, Illinois. The passenger list was verified by Fr. Volkmann, ship's master from Bremen, Germany on July 3, 1849.
The ship was Russian.
