Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk (*) indicates an error on the part of the original
recorder not the transcriber or is used to call your attention
to additional information in the Transcriber's Notes below.
? The use of a ? (question mark) indicates letters or words that
could not be read due to the quality of the original document.
* The passengers were numbered by the transcriber, not on original
file.
* All passengers were listed with the United States as their final
destination and that column has been eliminated. There were no
births or deaths on this voyage and that column has been eliminated.
Passenger # 10 - Henry P Tappan is designated 'female' on the
manifest. I would expect Henry P Tappan is a male.
Passenger # 15 - Edward G?thur? - The second letter could be an
"i", "u", or an "o". The 'thur' is quite clear
followed by what might be one or up to three more
letters, not visible. However, there does appear
to be a dot for an "i" at the far right of the
word which is consistent with the writer's script.
This name may be Edward Githuri, Edward Guthuri,
or Edward Gothuri.
Passenger # 22 - Adele Alcock - no reference or mark is made to
this passenger's Sex.
Passenger # 26 - Cesar ? Mali?non - Middle initial looks like a "S",
but it does not match other letter "S" in this list.
The missing letter in the last name may be either
a "g" or a "q" resulting in possible spellings of
Malignon or Maliqnon.
Passenger # 28 - Charles Marcott? - There may be an "e" at end of
name as in Charles Marcotte.
Passenger # 29 - Alfred WotKyn - Capital letter "K" in WotKyn is
as it appears on the manifest. An "s" may follow
the "n" in the last name, for WotKyns.
Passenger # 30 - Eliza WotKyn - Capital letter "K" in WotKyn is as
it appears on the manifest. An "s" may follow the
"n" in the last name, for WotKyns.
Passenger # 31 - Helen H. WotKyn - Capital letter "K" in WotKyn is
as it appears on the manifest. An "s" may follow
the "n" in the last name, for WotKyns.
Passenger # 32 - Adrienne Baumann - Baumann appears to be the correct
spelling for this passenger. However, for a long
period of time I read the name as Bacimaim and for
that reason alone I am placing the second possibility
on the list.
Passenger # 42 - James P White - Occupation is spelled 'Physcian' on
the manifest.
Passenger # 46 - Athenia Cauchois - No month is given in the age
column.
Passenger # 47 - John J Cauchois - No month is given in the age
column.
Passenger # 48 - Alentin? Cauchois - The last missing letter in the
first name may be "i" or "e" or Alentini Cauchois
or Alentine Cauchois. In addition, no month is given
in the age column.
Passenger # 49 - Mary Cauchois - No year is given in the age column.
Passenger # 50 - Mary Ca?? - The "Ca" of the last name is very clear.
The remaining letters (2 or 3) could spell "Cano",
"Carn" or "Carno". All letters are above the line.
Passenger # 52 - Leontine Ma??? - The last name looks like Marie and
there is a dot for an "i" floating off to the right
as is customary on this list. If the name does not
include an "i" than what appears to be the letters
"ri" of Marie, could be a "n" followed by the "e"
or Leontine Mane
Passenger # 53 - Leontine Ma??? - The last name looks like Marie and
there is a dot for an "i" floating off to the right
as is customary on this list. If the name does not
include an "i" than what appears to be the letters
"ri" of Marie, could be a "n" followed by the "e"
or Leontine Mane.
Passenger # 67 - A Hamilton Smith - Occupation is spelled 'Physcian'
on the manifest.
Passenger # 68 - Celest?? Jaco? - The last letters in the first name
may be "ur" or "in" which would make the name
Celestur or Celestin. The last name is most likely
Jacob but could be Jacot.
Passenger # 69 - Fl??? Jaco? - The letters of the first name, "Fl",
are followed by what looks like "inn" or Flinn Jacob.
What appears to be an "i" could possibly be an "e"
for Flenn Jacob. The last name is most likely Jacob
but could be Jacot.
Passenger # 70 - Benj H?m?? - All letters are above the line and it
appears the last name could be Himor. The "i" could
possibly be "e" for Hemor.
Passenger # 76 - Henry F???n - The "F" is distinct as is the "n" of
the last name. The second letter may be a "y" but
there is a broad downward stroke on what may be the
descending portion of that "y" that is not consistent
with the list writer and it could have been an error.
What appears to be the next two or three letters are
short strokes with no conclusive identity, but I have
compared them with another name on the manifest and
the strokes are consistent with "son". Therefore, I
am presenting the possibility that the last name is
F?son or Fyson. Possibly Fyrson.
Passenger # 77 - James McConell - Occupation is spelled Physcian on
manifest.
Passenger # 82 - Ed?? Harrison - The two letters after "Ed" may be
"mn" or Edmn Harrison.
Passenger # 84 - Jules Lecesne - Occupation is written as 'Mercht' on
manifest.
Passenger # 91 - Eugene G???rdmang - All questionable letters are
above the line. The 2nd letter is a swirl, the next
letters could be "our". Some possibe names are
Grandmang, Groundmang, Gourdmang. There is also the
possiblity of an "e" on the end of the name.
Passenger # 92 - Chevalier de?odre - the questionable letter in the
last name may be either a "L" or an "S" and it is a
capital letter. The name could be deLodre or deSodre.
The listed Occupation, Minister of B Govt most likely
means Minister of Brazilian Government.
Passenger # 93 - Mada?? de?odre - The question marks in the first name
look like "me" which would spell Madame or possibly
"nie" for Madanie. The questionable letter in the
last name may be either a "L" or an "S" and it is a
capital letter. The name could be deLodre or deSodre.
Passenger # 94 - Louise de?odre - the questionable letter in the last
name may be either a "L" or an "S" and it is a
capital letter. The name could be deLodre or deSodre.
Passenger # 95 - Mathilde de?odre - the questionable letter in the
last name may be either a "L" or an "S" and it is a
capital letter. The name could be deLodre or deSodre.
Passenger # 96 - Louis de?odre - the questionable letter in the last
name may be either a "L" or an "S" and it is a
capital letter. The name could be deLodre or deSodre.
Passenger # 97 - Louis Saunders - this passenger is listed as female
on the manifest.
Passenger #103 - Aristed M??? - The last name appears to be four
letters and looks like "Mary" which is not usually a
last name. The letter "M" is very clearly an "M."
The second letter could be "a" or "o", the third may
be "r" or "n" and the last an "i" with a flourish,
or possibly an "x". This gives choices including
Mary, Mani, Manx, or Marx.
Passenger #106 - John B V?on - the second letter may be "e" or "i"
for John B Veon or John B Vion.
Passenger #107 - Mary - no letters appear on the list for a last name,
just a bright blotch. Considering placement on the
list Mary may be traveling with Passenger #106,
John B V?on.
Passenger #108 - Mary - no letters appear on the list for a last name,
just a bright blotch. Considering placement on the
list, age, and because she has the same first name
I believe this child is traveling with Passenger #107.
Passenger #111 - Charles He??? - the "He" of the last name is clear.
The last, what appears to be three letters, could be
"ine". The last name would then be "Heine".
Passenger #118 - ?r?man Osborn - The first letter is most likely a
"T", but could be an "F". The third letter is a "u"
or a "e". Therefore, the first name could be Treman,
Truman, or Freman.
Passenger #120 - Edward Lo???hle - The three missing letters are all
above the line. They could spell Loicihle, Lorcihle
or Loiuhle.
Passenger #121 - Paul Pasquier's first digit of the age/year could be
2, 3 or 4. It appeared to have been written over
twice. Therefore Paul Pasquier's age may be 21, 31,
or 41.
Passenger #127 - Sau?t Andre. The fourth letter of the first name
may be a "c" or an "i" for Sauct Andre or Sauit
Andre. The recorder dotted 'i's' to the right of
the letter. This particular letter looks more like
a "c" but has a dot up and to the right of it.
