Correspondence 07/27/02 passenger #34 KOCH/HOCH
You show Passenger #34 - Valentin KOCH
This is obviously the Valentin Hoch family from which I descend.
Other information matches, i.e. Elisa Pabst, children's names.

The information at this immigration passenger listing shows
Germany Departure date "Unknown"
Texas Arrival Date "Estimated 1846."

Our family information shows Valentin Hoch of Obershonan, Germany
sailed from Bremen on September 17, 1845 along with his wife,
Elisabeth Pabst Hoch and their children: August (b.1834 married
Caroline Hornburg),; Maria Magdalena "Martha" (b.1838 married
James Hyacinthus Schwab); Aminda (b.1840 married Jacob Weber
and Martin Otten)'; and Frederika Wilhelmina (b. 1840 married
Christoph Fell). The family arrived at Galveston in December 1845
and then took a smaller vessel to Carlshafen (Indianola).
Elisabeth Pabst Hoch died shortly after arriving and is buried
at Indianola. Valentin and his four children proceeded inland to
the Fisher-Miller Grant but relocated in 1848 to the area which
is today known as Hochheim. In 1854 Valentin married Johanna Flemming,
a widow with two children, and they had four additional children.
I have more information on this line and will be happy to share with others.

Correspondence 03/17/2003 passenger #1 Spangenberg
I think Spangenberg, Heinrich Fried. from Nobeskrug, Hannover is my G.G. Uncle.
In 1845 My G.G. Grandfather Christopher Spangenberg came from Germany
to Texas with the Prince Solms Group.

He had with him, his wife Elizabeth and two of his children, Julia 16 and Sophia 10.

More of his family came later, my G. grandfather Henry age 15, Harman age 8
and Willam age 6, and there was one uncle August.

Heinrich Spangenberg came in 1846. He is with our family in the U.S. CENSUS
of 1880 or a man with the same name. T.G. Thompson
