Transcriber's notes:
* The use of an asterisk indicates an omission or error made by the original
recorder not the transcriber or is used to call your attention to additional
information in the Transcriber's Notes below.
* The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to quality
of original document.
* On the original document the passengers are not numbered. They are numbered
here to make the transcriber's notes easier to follow.
* All passengers intended to inhabit the United States. I have eliminated this
column to conserve space.
* There was no marks or notations in the column entitled "Died on the voyage"
therefore that column has been eliminated to save space.
* Spouses are listed apparently using their maiden name and were usually directly
under the husband's name.
* Many of the location names, such as "Meysenburgh" and "Luxenburg" are misspelled.
* Occupations are only listed for the first 33 passengers and the same occupation
was noted by ditto mark for the spouse and children, as that of the head of the
household.
Passenger Notes:
11 Child's surname was clearly spelled Eitz while the father's name was spelled Eitez.
19 Caroline Jeane Volck marked as Male, probably incorrect.
23 ?inwert - may be a "K" or an "H" or an "El" or "Fl."
30 Either Schommer, or Schommr
32 Marked as a "male" by a ditto mark, probably incorrect.
33 After passenger 33, no more occupations were listed.
49 Either an l or a t.
62 middle initial probably a P.
67 Spouse of Henry De Heck listed as "his wife."
69 Listed as "daughter" of Henry De Heck.
70 Listed as "son" of Henry De Heck
90 May be an "a", or "s".
96 Maria Guira is the sister of passenger 131, Michel Gira.
128 After the word "Luxenburg" another word appears in a separate column. The word
appears to be "Western." The column appears to refer to "The country to which
they intend to belong" and has ditto marks for all other passengers.
136 Descendants of Michel Gira spelled their surname Schira, Shiera, and Shirea.
Prior to approximately 1840, the surname was spelled Schiera.

"Now extinct, Meysembourg, Luxembourg was unique in the history of migration from the Grand Duchy. All inhabitants of the village emigrated. It seems that the dominant figure of the locality, Franz Reuter de Heddesdorf, had managed to have the local farmers incur indebtedness at exorbitant rates of interest. He then ruthlessly foreclosed, forcing them to sell their lands and buildings. Consequently, in 1846, 12 families which numbered 68 people decided to emigrate."
