Notes on My Grandmother Elizabeth Taylor
The first family on the list, George Taylor, his wife Elizabeth and their children had come from Durham Co, England. "Ellena" is my grandmother Ellen. She was born Decamber 2, 1867 and died in Parsons, Pa. (Now part of Wilkes-Barre) on November 30, 1912. She married George Gregory (see SS Scythia July 1886) on July 7, 1891. They had six children. Her obituary in the Wilkes-Barre Record contains the following ironic statement, "The death of Mrs. George Gregory occurred at the home in Breaker (note: now Matson Ave.) on Saturday evening following an operation for gall stones last Wednesday morning at City Hospital. The operation was successful, but owing to the weak condition of her heart she did not survive the ordeal". The operation was a success but the patient died.
