SS Belgenland
I, Saml Jackson, Master of the SS Belgenland, do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Steamer at Antwerp from which port said Steamer has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. So help me God. Saml Jackson (signature)
Sworn to this 1st Apr 1881 before me, Rup???piel (illegible signature)

Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the
original recorder, not the transcriber, or is used
to call your attention to additional information in
the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined
due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
* Names were transcribed as seen without regard for spelling.
691: 3rd letter of the first name could be m or n.
692: the age is given as 2 1/2.
693: the age is given as 1 1/2.
696 - 701: the last name could be Fuechsenberger.
714: the last name could be Auchtorlensi.
721 & 722: the last name could be Disfaltzky.
724: missing letter in the last name could be f or b.
725 - 728: these passengers are travelling together, this is shown by ditto marks.
729 - 732: these passengers are travelling together. The last name is written again for the
# 729, then ditto marks show the other passengers. One can therefore assume that
they are not travelling with passengers 725 - 728, although they have the same last
name.
736: the last name could be Hanlon.
741: Saml. could stand for Samuel.
760: Edwd. could stand for Edward.

827: the last name could be Loser.
850: part of the first name cannot be read due to a rip in the page.
852 - 858: the last name could be Gevers.

918: the age is written as 1 1/2.
926: the first name cannot be read due to a rip in the page.
947: the age is written as 3 1/4.
947 - 950: ditto marks show that the country of origin is Holland. On the next page,
passengers 951 - 953, show as coming from Germany. Since they are rather young,
one can assume they belong to the family on the previous page and the country
of origin should be Holland or Germany for all of them.
964: the age cannot be read due to a rip in the page.
972: the age is written as 11 1/2.
