I, Saml Jackson, Master of the SS Belgenland, do solemnly, sincerely and
truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and
now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection
District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers
taken on board of the said Steamer at Antwerp from which port said
Steamer has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated
the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the
part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which
each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become
an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number
of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of

of which Samuel Jackson is Master, from Antwerp, burthen 4000 tons.
Columns represent: name (last, first), age, sex, occupation, the country
to which they severally belong, and the country in which they intend to
become inhabitants. As there were no deaths listed in this section of the list
and as all passengers were listed as Steerage, those columns were
eliminated.

278 The page was folded or torn at this place, and the age is illegible.
It looks like ad with the top of the "d" curving over the "a". see 322 below.
279 The fold or tear makes this name very unclear and the age is totally gone.
However, there do seem to be ditto marks in the occupation field and the
young boys do not have these. see 280 below
280 The age has ditto marks, but the age above is not legible.
310 There are a 5 and a 9 as the last digit, but the 5 appears to be written last.
312 There is a 1/2 written after the 10 but it was crossed out.
314-315 The number looks like a very tall skinny 0.
321 There is what appears to be an "e" between the "i" and the "t".
The name could be Smits, but it is definitely written differently from 316 above.
322 This is a lower case "a" with a letter which curves up similar to a "d" but
with no downward stroke. see 278 above.
328 The name seems like it should be Alphonse Bulmsee but it written as shown.
347 It looks like the transcriber wrote "11" from line above then crossed it out
and wrote "5".
350 see 278 and 322 above.
380-382 These appear to be passengers traveling together, but the surname is written
differently.
355 The list was torn here. The name could be Catharina.
393 The list was torn at the end of the given name. It looks possibly like Lambertina.
431 The list was torn here. The name looks like Frank and the age is either 48 or 68.
440 The first name is probably Henry C. but is written as shown.

Among the immigrants listed are # 244 Johann Jennen age 37 a farmer from Belgium,
his wife #245 Hubertina Vencken age 37 also from Belgium, #246 Helena Jennen
age 9 their daughter, #247 Michel Jennen age 5 their son (my great grandfather),
#248 Theodor. Jennen age 3 their son, and #249 Leopold Jennen age 0 their son
(who must have died before they reached Minnesota since none of us knew
of him). They were farmers from the Belgian province of Limburg. I have visited the
town they left when they immigrated to the United States. (Rev.) Dunstan Moorse, O.S.B.
