Correspondence 01/11/02 passengers #214-218 Jurgens
Passenger numbers 214 and 215 are my great-great grandparents.
Numbers 216-218 are their 3 oldest children. They settled in
Reeseville, Dodge Co. Wisconsin. In 1868, Heinrich applied for
citizenship in the U.S. Many generations of this family, now
spelled Yerges, have lived in Wisconsin. If you wish to contact
someone regarding this name, my brother and I both do genealogy.
Lonnie or Dave
We will be happy to share the information we have on this family.

Correspondence 01/11/02 passenger #213 Sonneman
Person #213 Carl Sonneman is most likely the brother of person
#215 since Sonneman is her maiden name. (see above)
Lonnie or Dave

Correspondence 04/18/02 passenger #80 & 81 Wehrmann & #82 Hofer
Passenger 80 Adolph Wehrmann is my Great Granduncle. He came to the
U.S. with other relatives including my Great Grandmother Friedericke
Wehrmann on the Ship Rebecca Nov. 4, 1851. He went back to Germany
and married Charlotte Hofer Feb. 3, 1854 and brought her back to the
U.S. with him on the Bark Anna Delius. Charlotte is passenger 81.
Passenger 82 is Charlotte Hofer Wehrmann's brother Hermann Hofer.
Adolph and Charlotte Wehrmann settled in Warren Co. Mo. and later
moved to Higginsville in Lafayette Co. Mo. After my Great Grandmother,
Friedericke Wehrmann Begemann, died Adolph and Charlotte Wehrmann
raised my Grandmother Friedericke Begemann in Higginsville, Mo.
Hermann Hofer also ended up in Higginsville, Lafayette, Co. Mo. He
married Alvina Nolting. Hofer is now spelled Hoefer.

Correspondence 10/27/2003 passengers #83 & 84 Oberwetter
I believe we have found the one missing link to our ancestors from Germany.
Even though their name appears under the Vol. 3 of Mr. Thierman, they are
listed in the above manifest. The ship shows Bremen to New Orleans 13 May 1854.
They are Heinrich and Marie Oberwetter, Psgrs. 83 and 84. This is my great
grandfather and grandmother. We knew the approximate year, and that
they had disembarked around the Galveston , Tx area. I guess it was
possible that they caught a ship in New Orleans bound for Tx ? They made
their way to New Braunsfels, Tx; then on to Comfort, Tx (their house was
still standing in 1999. They eventually moved to Austin, Tx where he was
a landscaper for the State Capitol. He has a Texas Historial plaque at the
head of grave in Austin. He developed and propagated strains of the amaryllis.
Our relatives in Hamburg did all the work on the family tree which we received
in 1999 at our family reunion. Kay Barnes

Correspondence 01/10/2005 passengers #105-107 Huhn, #344-351 Bohl/Pohl, #323-328 Schirnberg/Schierenberg
I believe two of the families on this ship were those of my ancestors,
and a third family were probably cousins of some sort.

Huhn (lines 105-107): Helen was my 3rd great-grandmother. I don't
know where she was born, but after immigrating she lived the rest of
her life in St. Louis. Heinrich and Christian are a mystery to me.

"Bohl" (lines 344-351): Their name was actually Pohl, but the
transcription is correct per the passenger list. Henry (#346) later
married Helen Huhn, so it would seem they met on the ship. The Pohl
family had lived in Horn, Lippe-Detmold, but Konrad was born in nearby
Blomberg. Konrad Pohl's daughters also married in St. Louis.

"Schirnberg" (lines 323-328): Again, I agree with the transcription,
but the name was actually Schierenberg. The family shown on this list
is not directly related to me, but Friedrike Pohl's maiden name was
Schierenberg and I've seen some of the church records for Konrad
Schierenberg's family from the church in Horn. There was probably a
connection a few generations back. Konrad Schierenberg and his family
also settled in St. Louis. Dave B. Visit my website at

Correspondence added 03/30/2006, passenger #200, HUBENSACK
We are trying to determine if there is any connection between this Ernst Hubensack
and our ancestor Ernst Hubensack who was born about 1730 in Klein-Rhuden, Braunschweig,
Germany. He and his wife, who was born abt. 1734 in the same town, had two children for
whom we have information; Cathrine Elizabeth Hubensack, born 27 February 1755
and Anna Marie Hubensack, born 19 May 1758 in Klein Rhuden. Anna Marie married Johann
Heinrich Funke. They had a son named Christian Andreas Hubensack or Almstedt.
We do not know why the surname of Almstedt was used rather that Hubensack or Funke.
If anyone has any more information on any of these people please email us.
Shirley and Edwin Almstedt
