Transcriber's notes:

* A sheet of paper headed "Records of the Virginia Company" was sent to me
(DW) via ISTG. This sheet was submitted by Don Felgate. It is a typed sheet.
I was asked to reformat the paper so that it would post on our pages. I have
attempted to copy every name and item as it was spelled on the sheet.
* #22 The name Wright has a line drawn through it

* Notes following the list: "Not long after setting out from Bristol, the Supply
(70 tons) carrying 56 passengers, sprung a leak and had to call into a port in
Ireland to be repaired. This so unnerved some of the passengers that 6 of them
decided to settle in Ireland For this journey Tobias Felgate was Master.
Thereafter he appears to have made a journey nearly every year as Master,
several in the 'James' (he was part owner with his eldest brother William and
others), then the 'Defense' and one journey in the 'William and John'. He died
at Westover, Virginia about Christmas Time in 1634" See "The Records of the
Virginia Company of London" by Susan Kingsbury. Original documents in NY Public
   Library.
* Notes: "Tobias had an elder brother Captain (Army) Robert Felgate who arrived
in Bermuda aboard the 'Starre' in March 1614 where he remained (apart from
several journeys back to England,) until 1627 when he left Bermuda. One journey
back to Bermuda was in the 'Garland' which was due to sail to Virginia with 250
passengers called in at Bermuda on the way. However the Master William Wye
picked up a cargo of Tobacco in Bermuda and returned straight to England. Other
ships listed as carrying passengers to Bermuda were the 'Blessinge' with 100
passengers in March 1614, two days later came in the 'Starre' with 180 more but
the only people named were Mr. Lower to be marshall, Mr Barrett an ingineer and
Mr Felgate an old soldier." Below this paragraph is "Histore of the Bermudaes"
by Nathaniel Butler, "Records of the Virginia Company of London" by Susan
   Kingsbury, Don Felgate.
* It would seem logical that many of the names that begin with "I" are actually
"J", James, John, etc. but without seeing the original, I can only guess (dw)

Correspondence July 6, 2002 Captain Holland
Gabriel Holland
Birth: 13 Feb 1596 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London, England. Ninth
child of John de Holland and Mary Mollenax. Grandchild of Henry and Hyllary
(Barwarde) de Holland of Lancashire, England. Descendant from Edward I,
King of England, Phillip II, King of France.
Death: c. 1637 in Virginia Colony
Emigration: 8 Feb 1621 Jamestown Island, Colony of Virginia
Occupation: Member of the House of Burgess and plantation owner
Religion: Church of England
Residence: Jamestown Island, Colony of Virginia
Yeoman of James City

Sailed from Bristol, England on 18 Sep 1620 (Ship Supply sailed from the
port of Bristol, England three weeks later than that of her sister
ship Mayflower). Gabriel Holland was captain of the Supply Ship which
sailed from Bristol, England to Jamestown, Virginia.

Six (6) children have been "attributed" to Gabriel Holland
1. George Holland - b. c1622 James City Co., VA
2. John Holland - b. 1628 James City Co., VA
3. Richard Holland - b. 1630 James City Co., VA
4. Job Holland - b. c1631 James City Co., VA
5. Daniel Holland - b. c1633 James City Co., VA
6. William Holland -. b. c1634 James City Co., VA

It is claimed that George Holland, later of Accomack (on the Eastern Shore
of Virginia) was Gabriel's son by Rebecca George.

Gabriel was known as a Yeoman and Burgess. He traveled extensively back
and forth from Virginia to England from 1621-1635. He was elected Burgess,
a title given to prominent landowners. In 1625, Burgess Gabriel Holland
along with 30 men petitioned to King Charles I of England, that the
price of 4 lb. of Tobacco by every male over the age of 16 was excessive.
King Charles dismissed his session with Gabriel prior to their session
in court. Finally, in 1629 King Charles granted Burgess Gabriel Holland
a session in court to hear the colony's plea for lowering the pound-price
of Tobacco.

Gabriel married 1) Rebecca George, but there is much conflict with this
information. Later, he married 2) Mary Pinke widow to William Pinke and
nee William Jonas. The date is unknown but they married in the Virginia
Colony and before 1628 when the first known child was born to them.

My line of descent is as follows:
Gabriel HOLLAND b. 1597 England (America's First Families Ancestor Roll
of Honor)
John HOLLAND b. 1628 VA (America's First Families Ancestor Roll of Honor)
Henry HOLLAND, Sr., b. 1660 VA (America's First Families Ancestor Roll of

Thomas Holland b. 1750 VA (Revolutionary Solider from VA)
John Rickman Holland b. 1786 VA (War of 1812 VA and United Sons of the
Republic of Texas)
