Transcriber's notes:

* A sheet of paper headed "Records of the Virginia Company" was sent to me
(DW) via ISTG. This sheet was submitted by Don Felgate. It is a typed
sheet. I was asked to reformat the paper so that it would post on our pages.
I have attempted to copy every name and item as it was spelled on the sheet.
* Towne has been typed and then a line drawn through it. (DW)
* Notes following the list: "Instructions were given by the Virginia Co of London
to Sir William Throckmorton, Richard Berkeley, et al as follows, 'Wee ordaine
that the day of our ships arrivall at the place assigned for plantacon in the
land of Virginia shall be yearly and perputualy keept holy as a day of
thanksgiving to Almighty God.' This first Thanksgiving Day Service was held in
Virginia, nearly two years before that of the Pilgrim Fathers. The Plantation
was called Berkeley after Richard Berkeley and is situated on the James River.
* Notes that appear to be those of Don Felgate: "Tobias Felgate, my relative, was
Ship's Mate for this voyage and returned in the 'Margaret' arriving home in June
1620. The 'Margaret" (45 tons) was hired with crew at 33lb per month and Toby
Felgate as pilot at 4.50lb per month. This document together with a log of the
journey and full manifest with all costs are in the four volumes of 'The Records
of the Virginia Company of London' by Susan Kingsbury published in the USA in
1906. The original documents are in New York Public Library."
* Final remarks made by Don Felgate: "The earliest voyage Tobias made to Virginia
that I have found was from London in the 'Edwin' (described as a pinnace or
small vessel) in March 1617 arriving in May of that year. The vessel was
detained in Virginia and not allowed to leave for some months. It did not
appear to carry passengers but only cargo for trade."
* Many names written with "I" were more than likely "J', ie. James, John, etc.

But without seeing the original document, I have typed them as they were on the
   typed paper.(dw)
