Transcriber's Notes:
* The sworn statement on original manifest is at the bottom of the page, to
conform to ISTG guidelines it has been moved to the top.
* The date of arrival of this ship does not include the day.
* The Chinese and Japanese names were spelled phonetically by the ship's
captain. There were no agreed to standards in spelling these names.
* The use of a question mark indicates the letter is indecipherable.
* The term "Ex" in the discriptions of the passenger classes means
"from" or "out of". thus Saloon Ex Hong Kong means Saloon passengers
from or out of Hong Kong.
* The numbering system is inconsistent or was not copied on the original
microfilm from the first saloon passenger to the beginning of the first
passenger in the Second Cabin so I gave each of these passengers a
sequential number.
* The captain did not note the ages of Saloon or Cabin class passengers
except children..
* The use of "a" in the age column signifies "adult".
Saloon Ex Kobe
* 7 H. C. duBose. I originally thought this was duBae, but I now believe
it is a poorly written duBose. This applies to the whole family.
* 8 Mr. P. duBose There is no "Gentleman" written for this man. The space
is blank but this would be the husband in this family. Second Cabin Ex Hong Kong
* 1 Mrs. Fook Loy, I do not know which is the first name or last name
with the "Mrs." applied here.
* 2 Mrs May York, The same as above. Steerage Ex Hong Kong
* 36 Louis Chong I do not know if the captain thought the first name
was an English given name or is a phonetic spelling for what he heard.
If it is the latter then "Louis" would be the surname.
