Transciber's notes:
I have eliminated the Death column to save space, even though there were
two deaths on this voyage. Passengers 176 and 177 died en route and the
notes on the deaths are below.
In the sworn statement, the name of the ship is misspelled in once
instance and it is transcribed as written and noted with an *.
Passenger names were written as given name followed by surname with the
exceptions, I believe, of passengers 183 through 200. These passengers
all seem to have their surnames written first, followed by their given
names.
The following notes are listed by passenger number:
3 Marie Schafer - Her age is written in the Years column with a 3 written
as a superscript - could mean 9 years and 3 months or 9 and one-third
years.
5 J?? Ernst We?ler - Given name could be Jac or Joc. Surname is either
Weekler or Weckler.
10 Terese Mo??lie - Both letters are written very close together and I
can't decipher the first. The second letter is either G or Z.
13 Emily Fi?glia - It appears there is a letter written before the G
in the surname but it may be just the way the recorder began writing
the letter G. Part of the age is not legible due to a tear on the
original manifest.
28 and 31 Muller - Umlaut over the U.
29 Ernst H?ldan - The letter in question is partially covered by a tear on
the orignal manifest. The letter doesn't appear to fall below the line.
30 Aug. Todebusch - Occupation - geometer - means specialist in geometry.
32 Schoner - Umlaut over the O.
38 Adam Riett?? - This part of the film is quite dark, making it impossible
to decipher the letter. There is a small mark below the last questionable
letter but I can't tell if it's just a stray mark or a bottom leg to the
letter.
43 Gottl. Aldi?ger - The surname is either Aldinger or Aldimger.
47 and 48 Ei?ig - The surname is either Eimig or Einig.
59 through 61 G?? - The surname is either Gar, Gor, Gas, or Gos. The age
of passenger 60 is too hard to read but it appears there is only one
number as would be written for a small child.
64 Pauline Ahner - The second number in her age looks like just a small
squiggle and is impossible to decipher.
65 Fredke Ahner - The last two letters in the given name are written as a
superscript and most likely the name is Frederika or a similar spelling.
82 Marie K?oefer - The letter in question doesn't fall below the line or
extend high above the line.
87 There is no name written for this passenger.
90 Marg. Schulte - The number in question looks like a zero with a blob
above it.
92 Leo??e Mahy - The name is either Leome or Leonie.
94 through 98 Schluc??terer - The name is either Schluchterer or Schluctoterer.
99 Rubino Vitontom? - The letter isn't legible enough but it doesn't fall
below the line or extend high above the line.
101 Herm. Misselbe?k - The name is either Misselbeck or Misselberk.
107 Georg Raab - His age is either 21 or 27.
118 Peter Jacobs - His age is either 40, 41, or 44.
123 Johan Jacobs - His age looks like 7 that had been written over another
number. If this is the case, he would be a twin to passenger 124.
131 An??l?? Behles - This name is at the bottom of the page on the original
manifest and is very hard to decipher. The second letter in question
falls below the line, all others do not.
138 Heinr. Gotta - His age is either 23 or 29.
141 J. Bt?. Martin - The name Bt? is an abbreviation with the t? written as
a superscript, the last letter being either an A or an E.
153 and 154 De?ffe?t - The first letter in question is either N or U and
the second letter in question is either R or S.
155 Sebasti?n Sporowski - The name is either Sebastian or Sebastien.
156 Gury Dilelte? - The name is either Dilelter or Dileltes. His age is
either 41 or 44.
160 Sophie Me??er - The name is either Meiner or Memer.
162 A??g Verdick - The letters are very small and too close together to
decipher accurately but neither letter falls below the line or rises
high above the line. His age is either 5 or 15; I can't tell whether
the vertical line I see is part of his age or just a stray mark on
the film.
169 Gottl. De?gler - The name is either Demgler or Dengler.
176 Johanne Peeters - There is a notation in the Death column that reads -
Died 25 Sept 1880.
177 Petronella Peeters - There is a notation in the Death column that reads -
Died on the 15th of Sept 1880.
180 and 181 Domen?co - The name is either Domenico or Domenoco.
184 Marchinn? Giuseppi - The name is either Marchinni or Marchinno.
189 Pignata?o Carlo - The name is either Pignataro or Pignataso.
199 Andrea Punti?n - The name is either Puntian or Puntien.
201 Madame Luc?? - Neither letter falls below the line or rises high above
the line.
202 Wilh. Buhle - There is an umlaut over the U.
231 through 233 - Wm - The m is written as a superscript and I believe the
name is an abbreviation for William.
