Transcriber's Notes
All passsengers but three intended to inhabit the United States, so the
Intended Destination Column was eliminated. The destination of the three
non United States passengers is given in a footnote referenced by an * after
their passenger number.
In the column "Country of which they are Citizens" cities and regions were
sometimes listed instead of the country and were so transcribed.
The Deaths column was eliminated; there were no deaths listed.
A bracket labeled "children" was used for more than one child listed in
sequence. These were converted to "child" for each listing.
A bracket was used with one total for sequential baggage listings. This total
number is listed with the first person on the bracketed listing.
All Cabin Passengers were designated "I Cabin" and numbered 1 through 65 on
the list. These were renumbered 1075 through 1139 respectively.
The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the
quality of the original document.
Explantions for passengers with an * or a ? in their listing are given below.
Hamburg* in Master's Statement should probably be "vessel" or "ship."
788 Age may be 24. The ??f?, very faint, is probably "wife" and this entry
is not bracketed with the children, numbers 789, 790, and 791.
791 Could be Zalirz or Zahrz. This child is included in the children bracket
for the two Nitz children, 789 and 790.
792 through 796 The last two letters of surname are indistinct. Neither go
above or below the line. Could be Gune or Gun?.
797 Three surname letters indistinct; none go above or below the line. Looks
like it could be either Spies or Speis.
799 Age is one digit. Part of the number is missing. Probably a 9.
800 Age is one digit, part of it is missing. Probably a 6.
803 Two or three letters indistinct in surname. Could be Blaschmusch or
Blaschmissch. Occupation is all one word, none of the indistinct letters
