I, R. W. Grace, Master of the S.S. Spain do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board of the said S.S. Spain at Liverpool and Queenstown from which Port said S.S. Spain has now arrived; and that on the said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of the said Passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who have died. The part of the vessel inhabited by each passenger during the passage was steerage, so this column was also eliminated. There were no births or deaths on this passage. The use of a * indicates an error or an abbreviation made by the original recorder. The abbreviations are in the occupation column, where Labr seems to mean laborer, Spinst seems to mean spinster, Ch seems to mean child, and inft or inf seems to mean infant. 67 Samuel Cook - America was crossed out in this column, and England was written afterwards.
