* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original
recorder, not the transcriber, or is used to call your attention
to additional information in the transcriber's notes.
? Where letters could not be read, they were replaced
with a ?.
* This manifest was very difficult to read, especially
passengers 12 - 37. The handwriting slants forward
and is disconnected. Even the individual letters,
like m, n or u are not connceted, the m looks like
3 little hooks. Some letters are only a straight line
up and down, always on the line. Therefore it was
impossible to say for certain what some of the missing
letters are.
* The destination of all passengers is written as
U. S. of America, therefore this column has been
eliminated.
* Since no-one died on the voyage, the column
"died on the voyage" has been eliminated as well.
* All passengers that show as belonging to a State of
the United States had this crossed out and replaced
with USofA
* The arrival date looks like 3 February 1879, but could be a 2 or 7.
This ship was previously transcribed with an arrival date of
7 February 1879 and that date will be kept for the files.
Passenger # 2 - The missing 2 letters could possibly be c and u.
The country he came from is crossed out, it's
illegible.
Passenger # 4 - Age could be 20.
Passenger # 7-9 - A bracket shows that they are travelling
together.
Passerger #13 - The ^ shows that the r was written above the
line
Passenger #30 - The o in the name has an Umlaut.
Passenger #37 - The u in the last name has an Umlaut. The missing
letter could be an u or ei.
Passenger #71 - The third and fourth letters go above the line, they
don't have the loop of l though or are not crossed
like t. They are also written very close together.
