I, Parker Pelton Norton, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New-York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Liberty whereof I am Master, from Liverpool. Passenger #223 Kiernan, Jno is John Kiernan. He was my Great
Grandfather. He eventually settled in Albany,New York. John raised
a large family in Albany and at one time was a steward on a ship
that sailed the east coast of the US. He is in the Albany City
Directory in 1875. He may have resided in NYC upon his arrival
in the US. John Kiernan/Kernan is buried in St. Agnes Cemetery
near Albany, NY. Mary Patricia Parker
Correspondence 03/23/2004 Passenger #179-184 Dalziel
Thomas Dalziel was born c 1807 in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, probably the
Parish of Durisdeer. He married Agnes Sampson c 1837 in Dumfriesshire.
Thomas, Agnes and their their three children, left Scotland shortly after
the death of Thomas's father James, at Cleuchhead, Durisdeer, Dumfriesshire,
and settled in Kossuth Township, Columbia, Wi, where a further three
children were added to their family. By 1870, Thomas was at Bradford
Township, Chickasaw Co, Iowa. He died on 4 July 1879 at Nashua, Chickasaw,
Iowa, where he is buried.
Passenger 183, Andrew Dalziel, is unrelated.
In 1841, Andrew, born in Ireland, was an Agricultural Labourer, working for
the family at Cleuchhead. Mary Chapman
