Transcriber's Notes:
A portion of far side right of page is cut off. ... these dots indicate
words or letters missing from the sworn statement.
Any columns to the right of "Died on the voyage" are missing.
*Occupation: at the top of each page is written "Farmer" with a wavy line
going down the page. Apparently the writer did not try to determine an
occupation for each individual. This column is therefore omitted from the
listing.
* indicates an error, inconsistency, or omission of the original recorder.
? indicates a word or letter which could not be read due to the quality
of the original document
*2 First letter looks like a "Z" but could be something else; there
are no other letters exactly like it in the manifest. The last
letter(s) could be "h" or "la" or "le": Zele, Zeh, or Zela are
possibilities.
*3-7,43 Muller has an umlaut over the "u": Mueller.
*10 The last letter could be a "v" or an "e": Nisoalv or Nisoale;
* first name is probably Elisabeth
*11-12 The "k" is made with disconnected strokes - could be Dinkackr or
Dinkacker.
*14-15 The "a" has what resembles a printed "s" or "z" attached to the
upper right side; it might represent an umlaut or a letter:
Braeordle, Brasordle, Brazordle.
*17,22 First name is probably Elisabeth
*19,28,38,43,98 probably Barbara
*20 Written entirely in the year column is 1/2, which I interpreted
as one-half of a year since there is also a blank column for month;
however, it could mean 1 yr, 2 mo.
*21 Looks like Schmitt but could possibly be Salamett or Salamitt
*23 Probably Catherine
*24,27,56,89 Could be "all" or "dl"; definitely a period at the end to
indicate an abbreviation; probably Magdalene
*25,26 Written entirely in the year column is 1/4, which I interpreted
as one-fourth of a year since there is also a blank column for
month; however, it could mean 1 yr, 4 mo.
*28-30 and 32-34 The "ic" could be a "u" with an umlaut and the "h"
might conceivably be an "le": Fruh, Frueh, Frule, Fruele, Fricle.
*29 Possibly an abbreviation for Margaret
*30 Could possibly be Hesolav
*32-34 see 28-30 above, same name
*36 "m" for male is clearly written although this looks like a female
name.
*40-41 Copy is very dark here; could possibly be other letter(s) after
the "l"
44 5 missing letters all written entirely above the line;
looks like "naule": Fritznaule
*47-48 Probably refers to a political division of Germany and not Nassau,
Bahamas.
*48 There are two lines with the number 48. On the first a line has
been drawn through this name making it mostly illegible; it looks
like Hachul. This passenger may not have actually made the journey -
the number 48 is used again for the next passenger.
*48-49 Surname might be Hoffman. Place name uncertain: might refer to
Pessac, Poussac, or Pussac in France or Prisser, a village in
Germany.
*51 Could be Ritzmann or Ridgmann
*56, 89 Probably Magdalene
*57 Age could be 15 or 18
*62 Age looks like 20 was written over to make 10
*66 Could possibly be Muyr.
*69 Could be Nonninmann
*71 There is a mark over the final "e", could be an accent.
*79 Both f and m are written in the "sex" column, but f appears to be
written second.
*85 There may be an "o" at end of Carl: Carlo. The country name might
be Italien.
*92-94 Looks like Urire or Urice.
*93 Might be Augustine
*94 Might be Marguerite
