SS Furst Bismarck
I, A. Albers, Master of the SS Furst Bismarck do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the Passengers taken on board the said SS Furst Bismarck at Hamburg from which port said SS Furst Bismarck has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the location of the compartments or space of the said vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each, and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage and the dates, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each, also a true statement so far as can be ascertained with reference to the intention of each alien passenger, as to a protracted sojourn in this country. So help me God.

An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder not the transcriber.
A question mark indicates letters words that cannot be read due to the quality of the original document.
The column entitled 'Date and Cause of Death' has been eliminated since there was only one entry, passenger #1016 (see below).
The column titled 'Transient or Intransient' was eliminated. All passengers were listed as 'alien' except for numbers 910, 911, 912 and 836. (See note for passenger 913 also)
The statement 'A, B, C, D & E are Tweendeck Compartments' is written in the 'Location of compartment' column on each page of the manifest.
Passenger Notes:
#836 - Surname probably Kodswold or Klodswold, unclear due to loop from y in previous passengers name. Occupation appears to read music man.
#838-839 - Surname Marhken or Marnken
#840 - First name contains three or four letters after a clear capital M, no letters go below the line.
#841 - Could be Chusm
#846 - Asterisk written after name, no reason known.
#851 - Final letter a in fisrt name written superscript
#852 - First name Rosa or Rova
#854 - First name could be Sarah, but is followed by a superscript a or l
#858 - First name smudged, could be Garth. Age either 20 or 30. City reads fairly clearly DiRison or DiKison, at top of next page appears to read DiKinson or DiRinson.
#859 - Age either 23 or 25
#863 - Letter a in first name superscript
#873 - Letter a in first name superscript

#939-940 - Surname Kuhurt or Kukurt
#980-983 - Surname Brutbach or Breitbach
#983 - First name appears to be Syre
#996 - Superscript letter, possibly a, e or l, Surname Hackelbery or burg
#1016 - Line crossed out. In "Date and Cause of Death' is written 'Died on the 23rd of lung????' (last word partially illegible)
#1017 - Line crossed out. The word 'double' is written in the 'Date and Cause of Death' column. Possibly this is a duplicated passenger listed elsewhere on this mAnifest.
