Ship DeWitt Clinton
I, Edward Funk Master of the Ship DeWitt Clinton do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List or Manifest subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Ship DeWitt Clinton at Liverpool from which port said Ship DeWitt Clinton has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage and the names and ages of those who died. Correspondence 11/19/02 passenger #96 Bond
To tell you the truth, I am not sure that Frederick Bond is an ancestor of
mine. I am trying to search for my American relatives and the only name
I have is this one: Frederick Bond.
What I know:
Frederick was born on 5 Jun 1834. So he was 25 on 20 Sep 1859 when this
ship arrived in New York. Charles, a nephew named after Frederick was born
Sep 1859 or soon after so it is believed Frederick arrived by Sept 1859.
Fredrick was a shoe maker in Gloucestershire and was single when he left
England. All this matches with the passenger #96 on this manifest.
