I Jonathan Eldridge do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New-York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Courier whereof I am master from Liverpool So help me God. The use of a ? indicates a word or letter that could not be read, due to quality of original document. The country to which they severally belong column was covered by a curly brace to include all passengers and read Great Britain except Samuel Grundy. No other country was listed for Samuel Grundy. There was an X to the left of his name. The country in which they intend to become inhabitants column was covered by a curly brace to include all passengers and read United States of America. There were no deaths listed in the Died on the Voyage column and it was elimated. Overlapping the columns for country in which they intend to become inhabitants column and the Died on the Voyage column is written Sign* Jon. ? Eldridge the ? represents what appears to be a small d above and to the left of his last name and the asterix represents a small d above and to the right of the word sign which may mean signed. In the master's signature the asterik next to sign is above and to the right and may indicate the word signed. The occupation is probably gardener but is spelled as shown. Charles Clark is the only passenger with an entry in the months column.
