I, John J. Small Master of the Steam-Ship Columbia do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said S.S. Columbia at Glasgow for which port said * has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

Columns represent: Names, Age (Years), Age (Months), Sex, Occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country in which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on the Voyage, Part of the vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. Two columns are not included in the list below. Entry for each passenger for the column "the country in which they intend to become inhabitants" is "United States." Entry for each passenger for the column "Died on the Voyage" is "None."

Entries 1-5 Columns beginning with "Sex" are misaligned, and Entry 6 apparently lacks information. Entries 1-5 should probably read as follows:

Entry 13: first name is at the middle of the sheet and appears to have been taped over - name appears to be William.
Entry 18: Entry "M" in column "Sex" is probably list maker's error - first name is clearly Betsy.
Entry 23: A spot defaces this entry - age appears to be 60.
Entry 29: Name of John is followed by Martha, which is crossed out. Her entry then appears on the next line.
Entry 62: first name is at the middle of the sheet and appear to have been taped over - name may be Ann.
Entry 71: first name is clearly "Diana".
Entries 113 and 114: Entry "F" in column "Sex" is probably list maker's error: no other female on this ship is given an occupation, and first name of entry 114 is clearly "James".
Entry 134: paper is discolored - name may be McLing.
Entries 189 and 190: both crossed out - original list maker's error. Note that names are duplicates of entries 187 and 188, while ages are duplicates of entries 191 and 192. It appears this list is a clean copy of an original list.
Entry 204: Ditto marks in column "Sex" are probably list maker error. Name is clearly "Shelah".
Entry 210: Last name may be Deavenport.
Entries 211 and 215: apparent duplication - list maker's transcription error.
Entry 233: Age may also be 40.
Entry 235: Name is clearly "Johanna" - list maker's error for "Johannes"?
Entry 239: probably an abbreviation for "Infant" - see usage of the term later in the manifest.
Entry 245: Ditto marks in column "Sex" are probably list maker's error - name is clearly Hans.
Entry 267: Last name spelled with Umlaut
Entry 268: List maker's error - word is clearly None
