"Glasgow 15th August 1849. This is to certify that Patrick Cooper Advocate Commissioner for the Lord Macdonald of the Isles has of the date hereof settled for Passengers from his Lordships's Estates in North Uist conform to the foregoing list with the owners of the Cashmere as follows: One Hundred and Eleven Pounds in Cash by cheque on the National Bank of Scotland Edinr. [Edinburgh]. Seventy four Pounds by the bill payable at seven days after date hereof and the balance of One Hundred and Twenty Four pounds and ten shillings by bill payable at one hundred and eight days from the date hereof: and I further certify that Mr Cooper has made the said settlement through me as agent for the Owners of the Cashmere. [Signed] J.D. Sheppard"
