SS Bohemia
I, C. Pezalot, Master of the SS Bohemia do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Bohemia at Hamburg & Havre from which port said Bohemia has now arrived and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant: and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage and the names and ages of those who died. Passenger #160 ? could be 'p' or 'r' or anythng at all because it is blotched. Passenger #163 ? could be 'c'. Passenger #165 ?? could be an 'rj' or a 'y'. Passenger #172 ? could be an 's' or just a loop in the first letter 'E' and not a letter at all ??? could be 'uir' or 'une' or 'wue' Passenger #175 ? could be 'e' or 'a'. Passenger #177 ?? could be 'ir'. Passenger #179 ?? could be 'ns' or 'sn'. Passenger #180 ?? could be 'iun' or 'um' or 'iwi'. Passenger #202 ? could be an umlaut over the 'u' or it might just be a mark over a 'u'. Passenger #247 ? could be 'c' or 'e'. Passenger #259 ? could be 'rt' or 'rz' or just 'r' with a line looping down and to the left. Passenger #260 ???? could be 'uniu' or 'unin'or 'iwi' but it is impossible to tell for sure, as all of these letters look the same and run together in this name. Passenger #262 could be 'uid' or 'man' with an upsweep to the right on the last 'n'. Passenger #263 (see #262) Passenger #264 (see #262) Passenger #267 ? could be 'i' or 'r' or 'v', or 'u' with an Umlaut. Passenger #273 a line comes up from the h and loops up forming a small 's', which could make the name an abbreviation for Johannes. Passenger #276 looks sort of like an 'r' but could be nothing more than an upsweeping line after the 'e'. Passenger #277 ? could be an "o". Passenger #278 ( see #277) Passenger # 279 could be 'um', or 'uw' with an Umlaut over the 'u'. Passenger # 319 * indicates a tiny underlined 'a' perched up and to the right of the upper loop on the h, probably indicating that he has abbreviated the name "Catharine". Passenger #320 the last passenger entry; Wilhelm Straub, his age and his occupation all have marks through them.
