Correspondence 25 April 2000 Passenger 103 Hartman
Hendrick Hartman landed at the Port of Philadelphia by way of the Ship William
and Sarah, William Hill, Master. Hendrick's full name way Johann Hendrick Hartman,
but he went by Hendrick. He was born 170? in Prussia and died 170? either in
Pennsylvania or West Virginia--we are still searching.
Hendrick had a son, Henry Jr. who was born in 1728 or 1729 in Pennsylvania and
died in Hardy County, West Virginia. Our records are sketchy when it comes to
these two ancestors, making it difficult to find out more about Johann before
he came to America.
Henry Jr. had a son, John (born 1750 or 1751, Hardy Co, WV, died 181? in Green
County, TN), and John's son, Jacob Hartman was, according to Hamilton County,
Tennessee history, one of the first to settle there in about 1819. Also among
the first to settle were the Cunningham's to whom I am also related. I have
both their ancestry down to me.
The Hartmans (other than perhaps other relatives who stayed behind) mainly
flourished in Eastern Tennessee before a few moved to Oklahoma and finally
to Oregon.
If anyone is researching the same family lines, please contact me and we can
share information. Much success to you, Teresa (Hartman) Neill

Correspondence August 15, 2007 Passenger 13, Zimmerman
I wanted to let you know that Passenger # 13, on Volume 2 of the
William and Sarah passenger list, which arrived in Philadlelphia
on September 18, 1727, is my ancestor.
The correct spelling of his name is Andreas (Andrew) Zimmerman.
He traveled from Rotterdam with his wife and 8 children. He and
his family settled in Goshenhoppen, which is now Montgomery County,
Pennsylvania. His descendents moved to the Frederick, Maryland area.
He was originally from Meckesheim, Germany.
Thanks,
Brenda Zimmerman
