Meeting of 13th Feb., 1766 The humble petition of Isaac Lascelles Winn SHEWETH That your petitioner arrived in this Province about four weeks ago with the Ship Frankland under his command haveing on board of her one hundred and sixty eight poor German protestants, a list of whose respective names and ages are herunto annexed.
That your Petitioner has set on share and disposed of to persons here the said German protestants who respectively have paid to or settled with your petitioner for the several sums due to the ship for their passages from Germany to America exculsive of the Bounty given by the Act of the General Assembly of this Province passed the 25th July 1761 to be paid to the Masters of the ships who shall bring them into this Province, they not having previously paid for their passages.
Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays for your Honor Order to the Public Treasurer to pay to him the several Bounties of four pounds and two pounds sterling according to their respective ages of the said Protestants agreeable to the directions of the said Act. After Andrew Englet arrived in Charleston, a researcher states that he failed to locate him again until after the Revolutionary War. In 1784, he was granted 150 acres of land by the state of South Carolina. The name on the deed was written as Andrew Anglett. "State of South Carolina: To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye that for and in consideration of three pounds ten shillings Sterling Money paid by Andrew Anglett into the Treasury for the Wse of this State, We have granted , and by these Presents do grand unto the said Andrew Anglett his heirs and assigns, a Plantation ot Tract of Land containing one hundred and fifty Acres Situated in the District of Cament on a branch of Tuckeyhoe, Waters of Lynches Creek having such Shape , Form, and Marks as are represented by a Plat heruntoannexed, together with all Woods, Trees, Water, Water Courses, Profits, Commodities, Appurtenances, and Heriditaments whatfoever there unto belonging, To have and to hold the said Tract of one hundred and fifty Acres of Land and all an singular other the Presises herby granted unto the said Andrew Anglett his Heirs and Affigns, for ever, in free and common foccage. Given under the Great Seal of the Sate, Witness, his Excellency William Moultrie, Esquire, Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the said State, at Charleston this third day of April Anno Domini, One Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty Six and in the thenth year of the Independence of the United States of America. Signed William LMS Moultrie And hath thereunto a Plat therof annexed, representing the same, certified by F. Bremar, Surveyor General 28th Oct 1784" Sarah (Ross) Inglett, wife of Andrew moved to Ga. On July 4, 1814 she received a land grant in Richmond Coi., Ga. I have a copy of the Warrant who at that time resided in the state of Ga. Since it is in her name, we must assume that her husband was dead and is probably buried somewhere on the old land he received in 1786 ??, although I have no proof of this. Two of her sons first appeared on the Richmond Co records in the 31 Jan 1801 tax defaulters lists as defaulters on their taxes for 1800. Many of the Inglett ancestors are buried on the Ft. Gordon Army Reservation near Augusta, Ga. I have recently been sent a picture of what is known to be the house where Sarah lived with her son Hugh and his wife Amelia Dismukes Inglett. They are my direct line of Ingletts. There are several unmarked graves behind the house and one researcher who has worked on this line for a long time has said that he believes that Sarah (Ross) Inglett,. Her son Hugh and his wife Amelia and two sons who were killed in the Civil War are buried there. I have also been sent copies of some pages of Hugh and Amelia Inglett's family Bible with several records in it that have been very useful. The following are some of the Ingletts that I have found. The work is still in process and I find new information out each time I look. I am not the primary researcer for the earlier lines, but have found others very willing to help and share their data. I am descended Andrew and Sarah (Ross) Inglett -> Hugh and Amelia Dismuke Inglett -> Edmond and Margaret Byrd Inglett -> John and Laura Fariss Inglett -> Carrie Lee Inglett and William Henry Smith were my grandparents. My father and two sisters born to them, are still living. They were all raised in Augusta Ga, not too far from the Pinetucky area of Ga. where Sarah (Ross) Inglett moved with her family ca 1814. Although several different researchers have attached the following children to Andrew and Sara Englet, there is no proof that all are in fact their children. Some could be nephews and even the possibility that some are the grandsons, sons of older sons. There is a gap betweeen in the selling of land in SC and the settlement of Inglett's in SC. Some of the names appear to be the same person, but the fact is that is has not been PROVEN through wills, etc. for the earlier generations. Since I have used other peoples information without verification on my own, information should be used as a guide for futher research and not taken as proven fact.
