* Age was divided into several coloumns by gender. The coloums are: married adults, 14 years
and upwards, 7 and under 14 years, 4 and under 7 years, 1 and under 4 years, under 1 year.
All these coloumns are divided again into male and female. Real ages were given though.
The transcriber combined all these into 2 coloums for ease of reading and transcribing.
* The scans of the original manifest were somewhat blurred and not very clear, therefore a lot
of the information could not be read properly. Illegible words or part of words, were the
number of letters could not be determined is shown by a row of dots.
7 - 12: the last name could be Baudy.
18 & 19: part of the occupation is covered by a black line.
25 - 28: part of the occupation is covered by a black line.
25: the occupation could be servant.
87: according to the PRO (Public Record Office) in Victoria (Australia), the middle name
is Andromache.
117 & 118: the last name could be McDonald.
123: passengers are numbered by family, not individually. This passenger has his own
number, he does not seem to belong to the Neal family below him..
127: the first part of the occupation is covered by a black line.
133 - 135: the last name could be Perriam.
139: most information is either too blurry to read or covered by smudges.
140 - 143: the last name could be Quiney.
187: the first name should be Ellen Mary. Ellen Mary Ivey married Thomas Elliott in
Geelong, 14 Dec 1852. He arrived on the ship Scout in Victoria from Tasmania in 1847.
Thomas Elliott is the donor's great grandfather.
187 & 188: these 2 passengers are related to the donor of this list, Nev Carter. Ellen Ivey
was born in April 1828, her sister in November 1826, both in Tottenham, Middlesex,
England. Parents were James Ivey and Mary Ann Elliott. They were brought to work for
Mrs. Dennis of Colac, Victoria. Mrs. Dennis would have been from a large farming
property to be able to bring the girls out. Ellen was to be a Nursemaid, and Emma a
housemaid. Ellen married Thomas Elliott, a native of Kent, 14 December 1852. She
died 4 December 1900 at their property Woodleigh, Bamganie. She was buried at
Shelford 6 December 1900. Thomas and Ellen had 9 children. Emma married Richard
Harding 6 March 1851. No more is known about her at this time.
