? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the 
  manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.

^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted.

The writer of this list writes out the gender (Man/Woman) for the first 12 passengers, 
and thereafter he just uses M or W hence male/female.  
The endnote indicates that there were six babies on board--none of whom ae listed or named.


  1      Kuck (Kück) has an umlauted u so may also be Kueck.  There is a check mark in the 
         column for listing those who died enroute.
 23      There is a check mark in the column for listing those who died enroute.
 44      First letter of surname unclear: name may be Lohn, Tohn or John
 49      There is a check mark in the column for listing those who died enroute.
 52-54   Columns are blank for these entries; presumably they're all from Hessen and headed to 
         Illinois.
 75      There is a check mark in the column for listing those who died enroute.
 85-88   Columns are blank for these entries; presumably they're all from Prussia and headed 
         to St Louis..
 99-100  Munch (Münch) has an umlauted u so may also be Muench.
110      Boger (Böger) has an umlauted o so may also be Boeger.
124      Martens (Märtens) may have an umlauted a so may also be Maertens.
